The debut trailer of the new Batman movie premiered during the final panel for the 'DC FanDome' event on Saturday, the 22nd of August.

The teaser clip samples Nirvana’s “Something in the Way,” and shows Paul Dano’s The Riddler leaving a series of deadly clues for Batman and Commissioner Gordon (Jeffery Wright).

Fans were also excited to see actress Zoe Kravitz's debut as Catwoman.

The Batman director Matt Reeves revealed that the film would work as a starting point for Kravitz’s character.

Catwoman's alter ego is Selina Kyle, who is portrayed as an orphan in the comic books, who learned to survive on Gotham City's streets.

“Selina isn’t yet Catwoman,” Reeves told host Aisha Taylor.

Just like Batman, she’s in the early days of her career before she becomes the iconic jewel thief that fans know and love.

Kravitz's costume features the iconic short, spiked ears that fans immediately connect to Catwoman.

Fans have rejoiced at Kravitz's interpretation of Catwoman on social media.

"i cant believe zoë kravitz is catwoman and robert pattinson is batman it’s going to be the sexiest movie," said one social media user.

"i am not mentally prepared for zoë kravitz as catwoman," another wrote,

"Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle is why I’m looking forward to The Batman," an excited fan tweeted.

Some fans commented that the design of her suit is a lot different from previous interpretations of the character.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway's take on Catwoman were designed to be a sexy seductresses, while Kravitz looks more like a cat burglar from other designs over the years.

In January, the Big Little Lies actress stopped by Ellen, where she revealed she's training hard for her role as Catwoman in The Batman.

"It's going really well. It's very exciting. I've been training a ton too, which has been great and hard," Kravitz said.

"It's very physical. I come home just limping every day," Kravitz admitted.

Three months later, production halted due to the coronavirus. Reeves and his DC Comics crew were able to get a whole lot of work done in a little amount of time. The director was able to craft the footage into the 2-minute trailer, which currently has more than a million views.
