Although he's best known for his work as the sparkly vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, Robert Pattinson is suiting up to play the newest iteration of the caped crusader.

Pattinson will play Bruce Wayne/Batman, the billionaire playboy by day and superhero savior by night in Matt Reeve's next film, and fans are expecting him to deliver his career-best performance. The actor has always taken on a diverse set of roles, and has been in the acting business for over a decade. Robert Pattinson's fame has made fans wonder if he was well compensated to take on the superhero role, but the actual figure is quite less...and a bit surprising.

Pattinson Was Paid Only $3 Million

And not a penny more. Variety reported that the actor who was most recently seen in Christopher Nolan's Tenet, was paid a humble $3 million to star in The Batman.

It's not much if you compare Pattinson's paycheck to Marvel heavyweights Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, who earned $75 million and up to $20 million respectively for Avengers: Endgame.

Pattinson was paid $2 million for Twilight, and later, $12.5 million for each of the two Breaking Dawn films...and that was back in 2011. Fans are pretty shocked to hear that the actor wasn't paid much for his role, considering how well-paid former Batman actors were.

"$3M for a comic book movie lead role 10 years into his career while being globally known already..?" a fan inquired, confused.

"Seems like a lot for us the average person but pretty low for an actor especially in a comic book movie about one of the most famous superheroes of all time, why's that? low budget?" asked another.

"That paycheck is low. Robbie man, you got robbed!!!!!!" a third added.

Another user expressed that Marvel actors were compensated heavily for their roles in the MCU, unlike stars in the DCEU. "Gross underpayment if we're being frank. Chris Hemsworth got paid roughly $6-9 million for the first Thor. I guess Disney/Marvel is really where the money is at."

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, is slated to release on March 4, 2022.
