If a comedian doesn't take risks, as juvenile as some risks appear to be, they may as well not be a comedian. After all, comedy is ultimately about challenging ideas, social conventions, people, and, yes, making people feel uncomfortable. It's the latter that influences slapstick or potty-humor... both of which Jimmy Kimmel absolutely adores. Of course, his beloved ABC talk show offers more than just that. However, there have been a couple of moments that have been emblematic of that kind of humor and have even crossed the line.

Fans online have been pretty vocal about when Jimmy Kimmel seemingly takes things too far. But there appears to be one sketch that was the most cringe-worthy... So much so that it was downright awkward.

What Happened When Jimmy And Josh Brolin Changed Guillermo's Diaper

Yes, Jimmy Kimmel dressed his co-host, Guillermo, up in a diaper and got the Marvel Cinematic Universe star to change his diaper in front of a live studio audience and millions of viewers at home.

Why?

Because it was funny... that's why.

Still, some fans appeared to be totally put off by it.

The sketch was built off of a conversation that Jimmy was having with Josh Brolin, who appeared on his show in 2019 to promote Avengers: Endgame. The topic of Josh Brolin's fatherhood came up and how amazing it is to have a baby... despite the inconvenience of it all.

Jimmy then told a story about how he once ran into Josh Brolin shortly after his daughter was born. Josh apparently told him that he could change a diaper with incredible ease and speed. Of course, Jimmy needed Josh to prove this... on his show... in front of an audience and millions of viewers.

"This will be educational for people for you to test this," Jimmy said to Josh during their interview. "So we got a baby..."

This is when Jimmy's loyal, hilarious, and endlessly innocent co-host Guillermo came out and approached Josh. After a hug with the superstar, Guillermo began to undress, revealing that he was wearing an adult diaper.

"He needs to be changed," Jimmy said. "So, I've got a stopwatch here. And I've got a diaper. And I have some baby powder. And some formula, or whatever that is. So, would you want to give it a shot? And we'll time you?"

With little hesitation, Josh jumped right into the gag and proceeded to lay Guillermo on the floor, take off his pants, his diaper, and put a new one on him.

Josh managed to change Guillermo in under a minute, despite the giant diaper not sticking properly. So more or less, Josh proved that he's pretty good at it.

But this moment also proved to be extremely awkward for some fans of the show.

The Moment Appeared To Be An Homage To Adam Corolla And Howard Stern

No one should be surprised that Jimmy Kimmel loves his cringe-worthy talk show moments or 'immature stunts'. The man basically built his career on them while on The Man Show with his friend Adam Corolla. Additionally, Jimmy spent much of his twenties listening to The Howard Stern Show and has quickly become the legendary jock shock's real-life best friend. Even though Howard has calmed down his wild antics over the years, Jimmy has seemingly found a way to honor them on his own talk show.

If you look at the moment that Josh Brolin changed Guillermo's diaper, it's pretty impossible not to see a connection to elements of The Howard Stern Show. After all, Howard has done stunts very similar to this, mostly with the help of his two phony-phone callers/writers, Richard Christy and Sal Governale. Of course, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is a network show versus a satellite radio show, therefore it's far more controversial to pull a stunt like this.

Still, Jimmy did it and fans... well, fans had mixed opinions.

Those who love this kind of humor, as well as Jimmy Kimmel in general, were all about it. Others... not so much. In fact, various people on Quora claimed that it was a straight-up 'WTF' moment.

A few users of Twitter appeared to have similar reactions... A few called it "disgusting", "disturbing" or just simply said "no".

And yet, others claimed that it was one of the "most hilarious" stunts ever attempted on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

It just goes to show, there's no pleasing everyone.

At the end of the day, Jimmy's great at his job because he goes with his gut and does gags that he wants to do. That's what makes the whole show feel authentic, hilarious... but sometimes cringe-worthy.
