Whether your love her or not, there's just no stopping Jennifer Lopez. Few mainstream stars have been able to cross over from one platform to another and maintain both simultaneously as well as J-Lo has. Seriously, you just can't deny that.

Over the course of the singer's music career, she's been part of a number of really strong movies, at least according to the voters on IMDb. In these films, Jennifer has portrayed some authentic, heartfelt, and utterly memorable roles including Hustlers. And given Jennifer's success, she's even about to appear in an upcoming Netflix sci-fi movie. But to claim that her film reputation has been nothing but stellar would be a humungous lie.

Without a doubt, Jennifer Lopez has been in some truly terrible movies and has been truly terrible in them. Nobody is above a flop... and Jennifer has had several. But there's one movie that fans think is her absolute worst... and critics appear to agree on that.

The Movie That Jennifer Lopez Really Should Regret

If you go through Jennifer Lopez's catalog of terrible movies, you're sure to be blown away. For every Hustlers, Out Of Sight, or Selena, there's a Jack, Jersey Girl, or Bordertown... or An Unfinished Life... or El Cantante... But none of these movies are as bad a Gigli...

Sorry, J-Lo... but Gigli is just downright hard to watch.

As Jennifer claimed in an interview with Seth Meyers, there are worse movies out there than Gigli... But not many. Additionally, the press and movie-goers were harder on Gigli than they needed to be because Jennifer and her co-star, Ben Affleck, were going through a very public romance at the time.

Given the fact that fans are going crazy over the fact that Jennifer and Ben seemingly are back together, it's totally appropriate to talk about Gigli... After all, it was shortly after the movie's release that the pair called it quits.

The icing on the cake was that the 2003 flick annihilated both Jennifer's and Ben's movie careers for a few years. It also permanently destroyed director Martin Brest's career as he's never directed a film again. It was really received that poorly.

Critics absolutely loathed the film. Film critic Richard Roeper described it as "One of the worst movies I've ever seen" while Peter Bradshaw at The Guardian said, "It's just so catastrophic I expected the audience to adopt the "brace" position in the stalls, as if on a crashing plane."

Joel Siegel at Good Morning America said, "To qualify as a historic failure, a film needs a measure of pretension and all Gigli ever wanted to be was a romantic comedy. What it is is a dreadful romantic comedy."

To his point, Gigli isn't really a romantic comedy. it's more of a thriller... And a bad one, at that. it centers around a hitman tasked with kidnapping the "mentally ill" brother of a federal prosecutor. For this reason, Gigli is also seen as deeply offensive (by today's standards and probably by 2003's standards as well). It's dumb. And it features some of the worst quotes in movie history. This includes a scene where Jennifer points to her crotch and beckons Ben Affleck's character to pleasure her by saying, "Gobble, gobble. It's turkey time!"

Yeah... Seriously...

So, What Are Fans Saying About It Nowadays

To this day, fans of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are still talking about Gigli. This is because the movie is so bad that it's worth making fun of. While some fans on Twitter claim that the rekindling of Ben and Jen's relationship means one should go back and rewatch Gigli, others are still blasting the flick.

Of course, they also took the opportunity to drag Jennifer's failed relationship with A-Rod into things...

It also holds an abysmal rating of 6% on Rotten Tomatoes, a website created long after the movie released.

As nasty (yet completely truthful) as some of the fans can be online, Jennifer Lopez seems to have a good sense of humor about it all. In the Seth Meyers interview, she totally admitted that Gigli is a terrible movie and that she's done several bad movies in general. But how could she not? It's pretty undeniable that she's been in some bad movies. And it's definitely undeniable that Gigli is her absolute worst. The fans think so. The critics think so. And if God exists, it's highly likely that it would think so as well.

Sorry, Jen, but you're never going to live this terrible movie down. Especially not while rekindling your romance with your Gigli co-star.
