James Franco reached a settlement in his sexual misconduct suit. Fans of the actor, more accurately previous fans, are appalled at the details of former acting students' allegations and the accused abuse of power.

Public comments range from outrage to disbelief that the Pineapple Express actor hadn't been 'canceled' when this all came out in 2019.

Perez Hilton Reports

Perez Hilton posted on his website about the case, and his Instagram followers had to insert their reactions.

One Instagram user said, "Celebrities choose to settle because usually when there is any form of damaging evidence they can lock it down this way and it can never be disclosed to the public as it would if it went to trial... the best option for the longevity of public careers..."

Another supporter of Franco's former students claimed that moviegoers can't allow this news to fly under the radar, "He's not gonna get away from all the damage he's done to his victims."

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, two of the actor's former students claim that "create a steady stream of young women to objectify and exploit."

THR continued that the stomach-turning details insist the MasterClass formatted seminars were a "fraudulent institution designed to circumvent California's 'Pay for Play' regulations and lure students in by providing them false hopes of acquiring job opportunities with Franco's productions."

Defending The Students

Twitter users are also commenting on the situation. One person closely following the lawsuit suggested that Franco possibly did not want to commit perjury and therefore settled.

"I, personally, think Franco was scared shitless to lie under oath. It doesn't take much to realize that perjury is a serious offense," they wrote,  "Especially with the type of secrets he has in his closet. So maybe Howell was right. Maybe he would've caved. I hope karma bites him. Coward."

Sarah Tither-Kaplan, one of the above-mentioned students, addressed current news of the settlement and asked people to stop tagging her in recent articles.

She said, "I know my name is in the news again. Please don't tag me in articles. I have PTSD from years of abuse and mistreatment in this industry and am in the midst of unbearable grief after losing my mom. My career has suffered from all of this and I'm very tired. Please leave me alone."
