When fans first saw Farrah Abraham on MTV's 16 & Pregnant, she was scared about this new time in her life and dealing with raising her daugher Sophia without Sophia's dad Derek, who passed away. Why Are People Upset About Farrah And Sophia?
When Farrah's daughter Sophia commented on Farrah's body, people were definitely upset about it.
According to Cheat Sheet, Farrah got injections in her butt, and Sophia wrote on social media, “I HAVE THE BEST WOMAN AS A MOM who is everything and more & I totally think my mom is body is [sic] goals,” Farrah’s daughter commented on her post. “Health and happiness is #1 for moms who work so hard. For all who act like you can speak for me go get mental help. Your [sic] not her child but you wish you were. Sorry your [sic] damaged by your parents but I’m not. SAVE THIS IN YOUR PHONE SO YOU DON’T FORGET.”
Cheat Sheet noted that some people were upset that Sophia would want to get plastic surgery. And some people said that it didn't seem likely that Sophia was the one who actually said all of that.
There have been other moments when Farrah's parenting confused people. Farrah Abraham called herself a "fun mom" and said that 12-year-old Sophia is old enough to hear about sex, pregnancy and babies. It seems like Farrah went above the typical birds and the bees conversation and began talking about taking pregnancy tests as well. According to Us Weekly, Farrah said, “I don’t really feel like I can be shamed when I protect my child. I educate my daughter. We have so much fun on TikTok. … I think I’m doing pretty great.”
Farrah also said, "When tweens go through puberty, they need to learn, first of all, about pregnancy tests. So I needed to let her know stuff because I am all about healthcare. And I am not about shaming.”
Fans Aren't Happy With Some Of Farrah Abraham's Other Parenting Moments
There have been many times when fans have commented on things that Farrah has done as a mom.
When Farrah dyed Sophia's hair with red streaks, people weren't happy about that, according to TV Shows Ace. Some thought that Sophia wasn't old enough to have any hair dye.
There have been other times when Farrah Abraham behaved poorly: according to Hollywood Life, Sophia was given the authority to fire people who worked for Farrah, as Farrah herself explained. She and Sophia twerked in a video on Instagram, which people didn't like, and Farrah also once posted a video of herself insulting her daughter for several minutes. People often react to the way that Farrah acts with confusion.
Farrah often defends herself when people comment on the way that she acts around Sophia. When Farrah was on a yacht wearing lingerie, people were concerned that Sophia was there, and Farrah said, "We live in a household together. We are really open. There's nothing wrong with a woman being fully dressed in clothing, if that's a bikini set or whatever. I feel like a lot of moms are sex shamed, which I definitely have been in my life," according to TMZ.
While Farrah Abraham receives a lot of negative feedback about raising Sophia, she also has something to say about other moms.
Farrah insulted moms on her Instagram account: according to Heavy.com, in December 2021, Farrah shared on Instagram, “I’m beyond sex-shaming. And I do love, even when I hear continually– this only happens when ‘Teen Mom’ stuff occurs– the overwhelming jealous and hatred, especially of awful mothers, and despicable sexist, misogynistic men.”
