Making the transition into film was a major risk for Dwayne Johnson.

He left the world of sports and entertainment on the highest of highs, at the very top. He would soon learn that in the world of acting, he was starting all the way from the bottom.

Some of his roles were questionable and a little out of character, like 'Tooth Fairy' for example. As it turns out, after the film was shot, DJ fired his entire team and made some major changes to his team and identity.

He was no longer conforming to Hollywood's standards and in truth, he just wanted to be himself. It was at that point when the movie roles started to come his way, films that are massive box office attractions.

Before that took place and while he was finding his way, DJ was proving that he was an incredibly hard work on and off the set, something everyone would learn.

On the set of a particular film, DJ made sure to get the job done, even if he was shivering and completely out of it. Filming the scene and doing what it takes just speaks volumes about the man he is.

It Was His First Major Film

Very few actors can say that their first film generated a massive sum of $435 million at the box office. Dwayne Johnson was able to accomplish that alongside Brendan Fraser in 'The Mummy Returns'.

It was clear from his co-stars early on that despite the fact that acting was new to him, fame was not. When they landed at a new destination to shoot, the fans were always all over DJ more than anyone else, as Fraser pointed out.

"The minute we landed, all I heard were these chants. People who didn't speak English were screaming, 'Rock! Rock!' No one cared about me." "He might be the Rock. I felt like the pebble,"

His other costar John Hannah felt the same way, "People don't chant everywhere I go," The Rock says, humbly. "But when you get a cluster of people around me, they get a little rowdy."

It was a huge starting point for DJ and as it turns out, there were some tough moments behind the scenes.

Covered In Blankets & Shivering On-Set

As it turns out, according to Stephen Sommers, the film's director, shooting a certain scene was quite the task for Dwayne Johnson. Arriving in the warm Morocco climate, DJ was feeling seriously ill, wrapping himself up in blankets while in 112-degree weather.

The director recalls the story alongside EW.

"He arrives on the set Friday morning and Dwayne had really bad food poisoning and heat stroke. It was probably 110, 112 degrees, and everybody’s in shorts and tank tops, and he would be covered in blankets, just shivering. And he is such a trooper."

"I will always love him, because I’m like, ‘Dwayne, we’ve only got one day! I can’t put it off! We can’t wait for you to get well!’ He goes, just get the camera rolling, and as soon as I hear ‘Background’ I’ll jump up.’ And that’s what he did. We did, ‘…and background!’ All the extras start going and I go, ‘Action!’ and Dwayne, he threw off the blankets and charged forward. And we just went all day. That guy gutted it out, because he was just a mess.”

His hard work paid off as the following year, he got his own spin-off, 'The Scorpion King'.

It Would Lead To His Own Spin-Off, 'The Scorpion King'

The hard work was all worth it as the very next year, DJ was the star of the film, taking part in 'The Scorpion King'. The film was another box office success, bringing in a near $200 million.

As it turns out, fans might be getting a sequel to the film very soon. DJ opened up, discussing a revival of the film.

"The Scorpion King was my very first role ever on the silver screen and I’m honored and excited to reimagine and deliver this cool mythology to a whole new generation."

"I wouldn’t have had the career I’m lucky enough to have had it not been for The Scorpion King."

The man has a surreal work ethic and without a doubt, the film will be yet another box office bombshell for all those involved.
