The 1990s was a decade devoted to action movies and the actors who starred in these thrilling and pulse-pounding films became household names, even to this day.

Stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, and Slyvester Stallone would become big named actors in Hollywood thanks to their iconic action roles, and because of their massive success, are continuing to work today. However, the same can't be said for a plethora of other action stars of the '90s who have pretty much disappeared from Hollywood. What are these former famous action stars of the 1990s up to today?

10 Pam Grier

Actress Pam Grier has been working in Hollywood since the 1970s with hits like Foxy Brown, but she became famous in the 90s for her role in Quentin Tarantino's 1997 action and crime thrillerJackie Brown.

Grier stars as a flight attendant who is also a money smuggler, who ends up double-crossing her boss and the authorities who want to take her boss down. The film put Grier on the map yet again, but she wouldn't have the same success. She starred in 2017's Bad Grandmas and 2019's Poms, but they wouldn't be received well by movie-goers.

9 Michael Dudikoff

Michael Dudikoff is best known for starring in the movie franchise American Ninja, where he starred as U.S. Army Private Joe Armstrong, who uses his martial arts skills to fight off ninjas.

The success of his films lead to other action roles in movies including Chain of Command and Black Thunder. While it appeared that his career was flourishing, Dudikoff took some time off to work in real estate and flip houses. However, it looks like he continues to take on a few projects in Hollywood.

8 Chuck Norris

While everyone has pretty much heard of Chuck Norris, whether it was from watching his films like The Hitman, Sidekicks, or his tv role in Walker, Texas Ranger, or the several jokes about his toughness and attitude, he isn't as popular as he once was.

The '90s was a great time for Norris, but fans don't hear about him too much, and that can certainly be because he is 80-years-old. According to Looper, he has appeared as a guest star on a few sitcoms and is keeping busy with an alkaline water company called CForce.

7 Linda Hamilton

Linda Hamilton proved she wasn't the one to be messed with when she starred as Sarah Connor in the Terminator film series. She became one of Hollywood's most recognized action stars and she would also star in the fantasy drama Beauty and the Beast, which would earn her nominations for Golden Globe Awards and an Emmy Award.

Hamilton was at the height of her career in the 90s, but it appeared to slow down soon after. The actress continues to act and even reprised her role in the 2019 movie Terminator: Dark Fate. 

6 Bridget Fonda

With her aunt being the one and only Jane Fonda, it was only right for Bridget Fonda to try and make it in Hollywood herself. Fonda would find that taking up acting roles would make her into a very successful actress, especially when she starred as Melanie Ralston in Jackie Brown and later appearing in the action/thriller Point of No Return.

However, a car accident would slow down her acting career, and after marrying Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman, and raising a son, the two have been living their lives away from the spotlight.

5 Robin Shou

The 1990s gave moviegoers thrilling martial arts performances with actors like Jackie Chan, starring in Rumble in the Bronx and Rush Hour. But, as fans praise Chan for his memorable roles, they tend to forget about other prominent martial artists and actors like Robin Shou.

Shou starred in the 1995 film adaptation of the game Mortal Kombat and would reprise his role for Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Shou was a breakout star in his 90s roles, but it appeared that he took a break from his acting career. Looper reported that he is working on a film called Way of the Empty Hand, but there is no release date as of yet.

4 Cynthia Rothrock

Martial arts films were huge in the 90s and fans will likely remember actress Cynthia Rothrock who appeared in the China O'Brien movies, and went on to star in Lady Dragon and Undefeatable. 

However, Rothrock appears to be focusing on her career as a martial artist, working as an instructor, and has her own YouTube channel where she answers questions from her fans.

3 Jean-Claude Van Damme

Some of the biggest blockbuster hits in the 90s starred actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, who would appear in action movies like Hard Target, Street Fighter, and Time Cop. 

Unfortunately, this beloved hero would never see his acting career gain much success after the end of the decade. While he has been in a few cameos, and even starred in his own show, it never amounted to the success he had in the 90s. However, he did star in a Volvo commercial doing his famous splits from his movie Time Cop, which went viral.

2 Wesley Snipes

Actor Wesley Snipes had several prominent movie roles in the 90s with one of his most successful roles in the Blade film trilogy where he starred as the Marvel Comics character Blade.

Though fans were impressed with Snipes and his acting chops, his career tanked when he was charged with attempting to get false tax refunds and spent time in prison. While he appeared in the hit movie The Expendables 3, and 2019's Dolemite is My Name, his career isn't quite the same as it used to be.

1 Steven Seagal

Like most of the stars mentioned above, Steven Seagal was a famous martial artist who made it big in the 90s with movies like Under Seige and Marked for Death. 

However, Seagal pretty much ruined his own career after several actresses accused him of harassment and numerous stuntmen stated that he was difficult to work with. He had the opportunity to work in the hit movie The Expendables along with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, and Chuck Norris, but admitted he disliked one of the film's producers.
