With the long-awaited sequel to The Incredibles finally hitting the big screen, a man decided to get into full cosplay mode for the occasion. Choosing one of the show's characters, Frozone, he casually walked through the gate and into the theatre in full frosty regalia.
A gaggle of fans followed him down the aisle as he turned to the folks seated waiting for the main feature. Then he uttered the classic line that had everyone rolling:
"Honey, where's my super suit?"
Fans within earshot got it right away, the tag referring to the first movie, when Frozone wants to do his superhero thing, despite the objections of his wife. It wasn't exactly done with the might and fury of Samuel L. Jackson, who voices the animated character, but it sure got everyone's attention, especially on social media.
We have no idea if the Frozone imitator paid admission to catch Incredibles 2, which struck box office gold over the weekend, raking in $183 million, the largest ever opening haul for a full-length animated flick. But it's one hilarious incident in an endless string of many dramatic entrances, some executed for the sole purpose of gatecrashing. Earlier this year, two kids dressed up as a single tall dude to get into Black Panther for free, an attempt that failed, but succeeded in garnering plenty of yuks on social media. It was certainly on par with the getup that Star Wars fans like to put on whenever another outing is issued.
But this particular impersonator certainly added a lighter touch to the scores of patrons who showed up for the sequel. It's been 14 years since the first movie was unleashed. Clearly, Frozone has been living on for all of these years. Probably still trying to save the world, and probably still looking for his super suit. We're so glad he could make it out to the theatre for his second on-screen appearance.
Those hankering for the exploits of the superhero Parr family with Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, and Dash certainly got their fill of what the physically gifted family has been up to in the latest film.
As for whether we have to wait another 14 years for a third flick, well maybe more hilarious cosplay might help pass the time.
