After Gal Gadot left behind the beauty pageant world, she found the career that seems to be her calling, acting. Able to land a role in 2009’s Fast & Furious, Gadot went on to star in several films from that franchise which really pushed her career forward. That said, it wasn’t until Gadot was cast as the DC Extended Universe’s version of Wonder Woman that she truly became the topic of many conversations. Pageant Past

Born and raised in Israel, from all accounts Gal Gadot takes pride in her homeland. For example, Gadot previously served in the Israel Defense Forces, which is mandatory for young people in that country. As it turns out, that patriotism would turn out to be a very good thing as Gadot would go on to represent her country on the international stage.

As a young woman, Gal Gadot competed and won the crown at the 2004 Miss Israel event. Speaking to Glamour magazine many years later, Gadot made it clear that she was very surprised that she was the winner that night. "I never thought I would win," "I was shocked when they crowned me." Looking Back

Even though Gal Gadot obviously is a gorgeous woman who carries herself with a great deal of poise, she would go on to lose at the Miss Universe 2004 pageant. For most people, losing in front of the world like that could be extremely devastating but according to what Gadot tole Rolling Stone in 2017, that was the plan for her all along. “I knew that I did not want to win Miss Universe. It wasn’t my thing. For an 18-year-old, it looked like too much responsibility.”

In order to ensure that she wasn’t crowned Miss Universe in 2004, Gal Gadot decided to go out of her way to tank the competition in every way she could. During the aforementioned Rolling Stone interview, Gadot revealed that she pretended to not speak English, she showed up late, and she intentionally wore the wrong things and no makeup. Unsurprisingly, Gadot said she “lost majorly” and from her point of view she “victoriously lost” since that is exactly what she wanted.

Considering that Gal Gadot put so much effort into losing the Miss Universe crown, you may assume she regrets her time competing in pageants. However, according to what Gadot told Glamour magazine, taking part in Miss Universe turned out to be a wonderful thing for her. First off, she had a great time and got along with all of her fellow competitors since they “loved (her) because (she) wasn’t a threat”.
