A Look Into Gary Owen's Divorce

Gary Owen seemingly had it all! From the top-tier comedy career, supportive wife, and loving family, what could go wrong?

Well, apparently everything! In March 2021, Gary's wife Kenya, whom he's shared nearly 20 years and three children, filed for divorce. Fans immediately wondered what led to the unfortunate ending of the marriage, with many rumors about Owen cheating floating around.

Gary Owen revealed that while there was no major catalyst that caused their marriage to dissipate, the couple is divorcing simply because the marriage had reached its expiry date. The comic didn't want to make things public, however a series of rants on Kenya's social media were posted.

Turns out, those rants were Kenya's only way to reach out to Gary amidst their divorce, as she claims he is not responding to any of her or their childrens' calls or text messages. Yikes!

As if things couldn't get any worse, Kenya is now seeking quite a hefty monthly settlement from Gary Owen. Considering the comedian is worth $3 million, and took care of the finances over the course of the last almost two decades, Kenya feels as if she is entitled to a sum of that per month.

What Does The Divorce Settlement Look Like?

According to a series of court documents obtained by People Magazine, Kenya had first filed for divorce back in March, however she's now gone on to file an RFO for Support after Gary left her and the kids without the thousands per month that they're used to.

"While I was hoping to come to an amicable agreement with my husband … he has unfortunately left me with no choice but to file this RFO for Support," Duke stated in the court document.

"Gary and I have been married for over seventeen years. Twenty-three years ago, I left my promising career as an account manager to solely support Gary and his career," Kenya shared.

Kenya Duke is now requesting $44,000 per month from Owen, as this was the amount normally transferred into their account while married. Kenya would then go on to pay the bills, which included "bills, credit cards‚ and personal spending for myself and the kids," she revealed.

That isn't all! In addition to the $44,000 per month, which Kenya requested to continue for approximately four years, she is also asked for a lump sum payment of $88,000 for the "last two months he has failed to provide me with funds," Kenya said.

Things are definitely getting messy between these two, despite trying to keep their divorce on the down-low at first.
