Long before George Foreman started appearing on infomercials for his eponymous countertop grill, he was a famous boxer. So over the years, fans have seen various iterations of Foreman's fame, and it turns out, his kids are one of the reasons why he's still intriguing to former fans today.

George has twelve children, and he chose an interesting naming convention with them.

Did George Foreman Name His Children After Himself?

George did name some of his kids after himself, though it wasn't all of them. It's only George's sons who carry his name. And let's be honest, naming his daughters George would've been weird.

But instead of naming one son George Jr. and then being done with the matter, Foreman named each of his sons in succession; George Jr. through George IV.

There's a reason for it, though, says George.

Why Did George Foreman Name All His Sons George?

Foreman has explained in past interviews that he chose to give his kids his name because he wanted them all to stick together. In essence, he proclaimed that if one of them went down, then they all would.

In many celebrity families, that theme is already kind of an unspoken trend. After all, famous family members are often tied to one another's drama, even when the events have nothing to do with their sisters or uncles or stepsiblings at all. Like how Kim Kardashian always gets roped into stuff with Scott Disick.

But maybe there's more to it than that. George Foreman is quite literally a household name -- his name is slapped on the George Foreman Grill, for one thing! And so his children likely benefit from that notoriety, both in the revenue it generates and the attention and accolades it earns. Though, they don't use their name the same way other celebs do.

What About George Foreman's Daughters?

Not all of George Foreman's children are destined to carry their famous dad's name -- at least, not his first name. Only one of George's seven daughters is really named after him; Georgetta, the middle daughter. Altogether, the seven girls' names are Natalia, Leola, Freeda, Michi, Georgetta, Isabella, and then Courtney.

It's kind of amusing that Foreman didn't name another daughter after himself, but maybe his daughters' moms had something to do with that. Three girls have separate moms, two share a mom, and two are adopted, so clearly, George couldn't just go on a spree of Georginas, Georgettes, and Georgies.

But he didn't really have to name his kids after himself to get them to follow in his footsteps. A few of Foreman's kids have dabbled in their dad's sport, including his late daughter Freeda.

Overall, though, George seems pretty proud of his clan, even if his naming of half of them wasn't very original.
