Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are closer than any TV mother and daughter have ever been and that is why Gilmore Girls is still such a popular series and people will never stop crossing fingers (and toes) for more Netflix episodes. Many people IRL aspire to be like them, getting caffeinated at Luke's Diner and buying enough junk food to feed an army for cozy nights at home.

Some of the Gilmore Girls couples were awkward, but this mother/daughter duo was always perfection. Some lucky fans got to visit the Gilmore house on the Warner Brother Studios tour, and it's hard not to be envious of anyone who got that opportunity.

Lorelai And Rory's Real Relationship

Fans of TV shows are always wondering if the actors really hang out IRL. Did the Glee cast spend time together? What about the gang on The Big Bang Theory? And, of course, what about Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham on Gilmore Girls?

Sadly, as much as it might upset GG fans, Bledel and Graham aren't best pals. According to Bustle.com, Bledel said in 2005, "We have hung out outside of work, and it's fun, but we see each other so much at work that it's almost like if we hung out outside of work, we'd hang out all the time! We'd never be apart."

A few years ago, Graham said that she met Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser for a meal when they were seeing each other and weren't married yet. She explained, "I just had lunch with her not too long ago and I knew she was dating him so that's really cool."

The comments that they have each made about each other makes it seem like they have a good working relationship, but nothing more.

Fans might have thought that Bledel and Graham would be constantly grabbing dinner or at least catching up on a regular basis, but according to Instyle.com, Graham hangs out with Yanic Truesdale and Kelly Bishop. She said, “I check in with everybody, but Kelly Bishop is an important friend in my life. And Yanic [Truesdale, who played Michel] lives in L.A., and I see him a lot. We are a similar age and go out.”

The actresses are really kind about each other's careers, though. When Bledel won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series in 2017, Graham tweeted, "THIS IS SO AWESOME. Congratulations and love! xL."

Lorelai And Rory

Even though the two actresses aren't spending holidays and random Tuesday nights having dinner or drinks, it does sound like they loved playing the famous mother and daughter on Gilmore Girls.

Graham said that she didn't like when the characters didn't talk in season 6. According to Hello Giggles, she said, “I have to admit I struggled with the Lorelai/Rory separation. It went on for a while, and Lorelai was so crabby with her for several episodes, not to mention that I missed my favorite scene partner…I remember talking about it with Amy, who felt it was important developmentally that this always-close relationship hit a significant growing pain. Still, I felt bad in scenes where I kept holding a grudge.”

Lauren And Mae's Bond

Even though Lauren Graham isn't super close with Alexis Bledel when they aren't filming, Graham is close with another co-star: Mae Whitman. The two played mother and daughter Sarah and Amber Braverman on the TV drama Parenthood and they connected a lot.

According to The Huffington Post, Whitman explained her relationship with the actress. She said, "Lauren Graham is my best friend, and Dax [Shepard] is my family, and Miles [Heizer], who plays my brother, he's my roommate, he lives with me in real life. We bonded in this way that is so unlike anything I've ever experienced." She also shared that she pretends to be envious of Bledel since she played Graham's daughter on GG, and Graham will pretend to be upset when Whitman hangs out with Allison Janney, who played her mother in the comedy The DUFF.

Whitman told The Lily that she goes to Graham for advice and that she's "a mother figure."

It's definitely disappointing to think that Lorelai and Rory aren't actually gossiping and chatting over coffee in real life, or hosting movie nights (with junk food, of course) at each other's homes. But at least Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel say sweet things about each other and seem to get along. And, of course, fans can always cue up their favorite Gilmore Girls episodes and watch the fictional mother/daughter duo having the best time together.
