Getting canceled can make it impossible to find a job in the business, just ask Kevin Spacey who is finally finding work again, this time around in Italy. Who knows if Travis Scott will work again either following the 'Astroworld' disaster.
These days, chef Gordon Ramsay is known as a family man, however, back in 2010, things seemed to be quite different. While sitting down for an interview alongside Jay Leno, Ramsay might've taken things too far alongside Sofia Vergara.
We'll take a look back at the controversial interview and why it resurfaced years later.
The Interview Featuring Sofia Vergara And Gordon Ramsay On Jay Leno Resurfaced In 2019
The actual interview took place in 2010, almost a decade later, in January of 2019, the interview resurfaced online, and let's just say fans weren't pleased with Ramsay's conduct when talking to Sofia Vergara. In truth, had this interview taken place in this day and age, Ramsay might be out of the spotlight for good.
Fans on YouTube both roasted Gordon Ramsay while praising Sofia Vergara for keeping things classy throughout the interview.
"Sofia is the ultimate woman. Smart, sooo funny and witty, talented, bomb figure, gorgeous face, seems like a great mom, hardworking and doesn't get intimidated or feel invalidated by misogyny. These two had NO CLUE how to act around her."
"This has nothing to do with being a feminist, everyone who has an ounce of self respect and a sense of empathy can see that this crosses the line. I'm a man and I wouldn't want some random woman/man to invade my privacy like that, physically and verbally."
"This is very cringy to watch. But Sofia was really classy."
So what went down during the interview... let's take a look back at what almost got Gordon Ramsay canceled.
Gordon Ramsay Made Some Sexual Remarks Towards Sofia Vergara
It all started with an innocent slide show, showing Sofia Vergara's trip to Italy. However, soon enough, things would take a turn when Gordon Ramsay started to make some harsh comments, taking things a little bit too far.
In particular, Ramsay made a comment about Sofia enjoying a mouthful of pizza... which was met by an awkward gasp by the audience. From then on, things would only get that much harder to watch.
Sofia would state, "I don't scream like that in real life," only for Gordon to touch her inappropriately and say, "only in the bedroom." The comment was once again met by a gasp from the audience.
Ramsay would go as far as to tap the actress on her upper thigh, clearly, Vergara was getting a little more upset at that point saying, "no touchy."
Fans stated that perhaps Jay Leno could've done a better job at managing the situation during the interview. For some, having Conan be the host during the conversation would've resulted in Gordon getting roasted.
"Conan would have comically defended her and tried his best to just remove Gordon or give him strong signs to stop whatever he's doing."
At the very least, much respect goes to Sofia Vergara for acting like a class act throughout the interview.
Sofia Vergara Was A Class Act Throughout The Jay Leno Interview
To make matters that much worse, although Ramsay was there, it was Sofia Vergara's interview and time to talk on the show. Though Ramsay made it clear right out of the gate, he wanted to take part.
To Sofia's credit, she could've made things awkward, though throughout the interview she took the classy approach, diffusing the situation and typically laughing it off, or changing the subject entirely when some inappropriate was brought up.
In addition, Sofia praised Gordon Ramsay for his cooking skills and all the fine restaurants he owns, which she really didn't have to do given the way the Jay Leno interview went.
Fans would further state in the YouTube comments that Sofia's body language really said it all throughout the interview.
"I wouldn’t have a problem with them joking and teasing IF she wasn’t so uncomfortable. She clearly doesn’t look comfortable and he still kept going."
Props to Vergara for the way she handled the entire ordeal. Surely, in this day and age, we won't see that side of Ramsay any longer, especially given that he's a family man these days. We hope that at some point, he issued an apology to the 'Modern Family' star.
