Grant Gustin is kind of a superhero. Okay, maybe not in real life. But his role on The Flash is so convincing that he actually has some fans buying part of the act. On the show, Grant plays Barry Allen, who is in a deeply romantic relationship with Candice Patton (Iris West). There’s nothing too strange about that, except for the fact that a whole bunch of fans think that they are dating in real life. Talk about some convincing acting!
The truth is that Grant and Iris are just friendly work colleagues, and Grant is actually married to someone else.: a certain Andrea “LA” Thoma, who isn’t even part of the television world. So how did the two meet and fall in love? Read on for the inside scoop:
A Very Classic Love Story
Falling in love with a famous actor might be little more than a dream for most girls, but for LA Thoma, the whole process was actually quite natural. The doctor from Ohio first crossed paths with Gustin in 2016 when the two attended the same dinner party. The event, which was hosted by the Sabah Tourism Board, was clearly responsible for some major chemistry because just one month later, the two were already an item.
The best part is that the city of Sabah continues to play a major role in their relationship. Grant And LA actually went on a vacation there at the end of 2017, and apparently, they loved the trip. Grant even divulged to the local The Straits Times that he would definitely like to make several future stops to the city. We don’t know what is in the water in Sabah, but we would certainly like to have some!
A Hilarious Marriage Proposal
Gustin and LA’s love story may be adorable, but it’s not without any comical or awkward moments. One of the funniest moments in their relationship was actually Gustin’s proposal. The actor opened up about the experience on The Conan O’Brien Show, and let’s just say that the whole thing was hilarious.
The story started out with Gustin devising the perfect proposal plan. He was supposed to shoot a movie in Costa Rica, where he was hoping to take advantage of the romantic atmosphere to pop the question. Unfortunately, however, production plans changed, and Gustin’s proposal was foiled.
In the end, Gustin proposed to LA on the beach after a workout in a very spontaneous way. She found the question so unexpected that she actually thought it was a joke... and started laughing. Not exactly the reaction most guys are hoping for! Ultimately, though LA did say yes, and now the rest is history. The couple is happily married and enjoying their relationship.
