A Harry Potter Themed Cruise Is Here

Potter Fans, prepare to summon a vacation!

Coming this summer is a Harry Potter themed cruise put on by American tour company, Barge Lady Cruises.

If the name wasn’t a giveaway, this isn’t going to be a cruise around the Caribbean with a bunch of people in Hogwarts costumes. Barge Lady Cruises specialize in river barge tours of Europe, namely rivers found in France, Germany, Italy, Holland, and in this specific case, the United Kingdom.

"Imagine a private cruise on board a festive hotel barge complete with luxurious accommodations, premium amenities, curated sightseeing, and culinary excellence,” reads the Barge Lady’s website.

The cruise has been in the works for some time now after first being announced last January. Now everything is confirmed, including which ship the cruise will be on and where the cruise will make port.

Aboard the Magna Carta, you’ll sail down the River Thames making stops at various locations featured in the Harry Potter movies such as Virginia Water (where Harry first meets Buckbeak) and Picket Post Close (the real-life location of 4 Privet Drive). Warner Bros. Studios in London is an obvious choice for a stop as well given its location.

The Magna Carta sets sail this Summer with dates available from August 5th to the 11th as well as the 19th to the 25th. That’s a two-week stretch to ensure you hit every Potter stop in town.

No word yet on if the ship will get decked out for the occasion or if the Harry Potter theme will be limited to the cruise’s stops.

Accommodations aboard the Magna Carta aren’t exactly spacious. With a hull laid down in 1930, the Magna Carta can carry 8 passengers along with its crew of 4. There are four 200 sq ft cabins each with capacity for two, and the largest bed is a double. Bathrooms are shower only, but there is an open bar in the ship’s saloon, as well as a hot tub on the sun deck.

The price for this magical getaway is an unimpressive $4,190 per person. If you’re a huge Harry Potter fan (and you drink like a fish) then maybe this is the getaway for you.
