via inverse.com

It feels so nostalgic to discuss the Philosopher's Stone! The Stone was created by renowned French alchemist Nicholas Flamel and his wife Perenelle. Flamel lived to be a ripe age of around 669 years old.

29 1692 - International Statute Of Wizarding Secrecy Put In Place

via fandom.com

One of the most important laws in Wizarding society, the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy essentially formed modern wizarding society as we know it. via harrypotter.wikia.com

People find it hard to believe that the Chamber of Secrets could only have been discovered twice by two underage wizards in the entire history of Hogwarts. The truth is, the Chamber was almost opened in the eighteenth century. When the complex toilet and shower plumbing was added to Hogwarts, it was nearly discovered by the plumbers. Corvinus Gaunt, AKA Voldemort's ancestor, guided them in a different direction, thus protecting the Chamber.

27 1938 - Dumbledore Accepts Tom Riddle Into Hogwarts

via mirror.co.uk

In what was a highly important moment in wizarding history, Dumbledore arrived at Wool's Orphanage in London. Right from the get-go, Dumbledore got weird vibes from the young Tom Riddle but offered him a place at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry nonetheless. It makes you wonder what would have happened if Dumbledore had not investigated the unsettling events at the orphanage - would Voldemort still have come to be?

26 1943 - Tom Riddle Opened The Chamber Of Secrets

via youtube.com

A terrible event in Hogwarts' history. In 1943, Tom Riddle successfully found and opened the Chamber of Secrets, officially cementing himself as the Heir of Slytherin. This opening led to multiple Muggleborn lives being taken; things got so serious that the school was threatened with closure. Once hearing this, Riddle relented but framed Hagrid for the events, leading to the half-giant's expulsion. The Chamber would remain closed until the events of The Chamber of Secrets in 1992 and 1993.

25 1944 - Tom Riddle Becomes Interested In Horcruxes

via factinate.com

Teenage boys usually become interested in sports, romance, and other extra-curricular things; wizard teenagers become more interested in cool spells, current magical events, and bands like The Weird Sisters. It turns out that Tom Riddle had to make things weird and get into Horcruxes. As a brief refresher, a Horcrux is a vessel with a piece of someone's soul in it. Interviewing Horace Slughorn only increased Riddle's curiosity and he began practicing dark magic in the hopes to split his soul.

24 1945 - Dumbledore Defeated Gellert Grindelwald

via sscreenrant.com

One of the most important battles in wizarding history was this face-off between two exceptional wizards. Grindelwald and Dumbledore had been friends and even almost lovers who were both brilliant and had similar ideals. However, Grindelwald began having more extreme views and the pair grew apart. Once Grindelwald became a threat to society, Dumbledore was called to defeat him. We know nothing much about the battle itself, but Dumbledore received a first class Order of Merlin for defeating his old friend.

23 1945 - Tom Riddle Left Hogwarts Looking For Artifacts

via harrypotter.wikia.com

In 1945, Tom Riddle officially left Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to pursue his desire to create Horcruxes. His first task was finding artifacts that would be suitable to house pieces of his soul. Riddle leaned towards objects of great historical importance, like the Ravenclaw Diadem, or an item that represented something symbolic for him, such as Nagini. One unintentional Horcrux was Harry himself, but we all know what happened there.

22 1970 - Voldemort Declared War On The Ministry

via factinate.com

After leaving Hogwarts, Tom Riddle disappeared into obscurity for over a decade. Once he returned, he came with a new name and a new goal; power. The new Voldemort then began gathering followers and making plans to lay the groundwork for his ideals. However, it was in 1970 that Voldemort officially declared war on the Ministry Of Magic and his followers began attacking muggles in very public ways. This is what started his infamy and making him a person to be feared within the wizarding community.

21 1970 - Dumbledore Formed The Order Of The Phoenix

via harrypotter.wikia.com

With Voldemort and his followers causing a real threat to society, Dumbledore quickly began assembling a group of capable and good witches and wizards to form what we now know as the Order of The Phoenix. These witches and wizards were opposed to Voldemort and knew of his spies' infiltration of the Ministry. It is pretty awesome to imagine these heroes standing up for their beliefs against such a strong and mysterious evil. This group continued into the first and second Wizarding World Wars.

20 1971 - Lily Evans And The Marauders Attend Hogwarts

via variety.com

Something a little more familiar to fans of the original series, 1971 was the year that Lily, James, Remus, Sirius, and Peter began their academic careers at Hogwarts. From their first ride on the Hogwarts express, James, Sirius, and Remus never left each others' sides. A little later, Remus brought Peter into the fold to form the infamous Marauders crew. Lily was not a fan of the crew initially, but in their final couple of years became attached to James Potter.

19 1972 - The Marauders Become Animagi

In their second year at Hogwarts, the Marauders crew discovered that Remus Lupin suffered from Lycanthropy. On learning this, the gang formed a plan of how to protect Remus from harm each month; this included keeping him in the Shrieking Shack (his howls giving it the name), making the Marauder's Map and becoming Animagi to keep him company as safely as possible. Becoming an animagi is a rigorous and difficult process, so the fact that all three achieved this is insane for kids their age.

18 1979 - Lily Evans And James Potter Marry

via fanpop.com

Sometimes in 1976 or so is when Lily and James began dating each other. This romance was quickly tested as war loomed over the horizon. Despite the lingering unease, the pair got married. They continued to be a part of the Order and publicly support Dumbledore until Lily became pregnant with Harry. Once they knew of her pregnancy, the couple went into hiding in Godric's Hollow for their own safety. We do not know precisely when they got married and went into hiding, but it was between the early summer and Christmas Day.

17 1979 - Regulus Black Steals A Horcrux

via cureworldcosplay.com

Something that was briefly touched on in the Harry Potter movies, there was a period at the height of Voldemort's power where he became vulnerable. Regulus Black, Sirius' younger brother, was a follower of Voldemort. However, he soon began to rebel against him and even achieved the impossible; located and stole one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. He found Salazar Slytherin's locket and attempted to destroy it, but was soon dispatched when Voldemort discovered his treachery.

16 1980 - Peter Pettigrew Betrayed The Order

via mugglenet.com

As Voldemort grew more powerful, the Order continued to oppose him and attempt to thwart his plans. Voldemort began targeting members but had a hard time figuring out who all of them were. Peter Pettigrew, sensing an opportunity, ratted out some of his fellow members to Voldemort and started naming names. This caused paranoia in the Order as they figured out that there was a mole in their midst. This is an undiscussed disloyalty; the Order was a family and this disloyalty ended many lives.

15 1980 - Sybil Trelawney Saw The Prophecy

via harrypotter.wikia.com

When Dumbledore was a young Headmaster, he wanted to remove Divination from the Hogwarts curriculum altogether; he did not like the programmed and thought that it would not be popular amongst students. However, he met Sybil Trelawny for an interview at the Three Broomsticks anyway. During this interview, Trelawny was overcome with a vision of a child who would destroy the Dark Lord. It was at this moment that Dumbledore gave her the position to protect her from Death Eaters.

14 1981 - Peter Pettigrew Betrayed The Potters

via imgur.com

Being a Secret-Keeper is a huge deal. It basically means that a secret is magically kept inside a chosen person and can only be divulged willingly by that chosen person. James and Lily were being targeted by Voldemort and wanted Sirius to be their Secret-Keeper. This made sense as Sirius would rather die than betray his friends. However, Sirius knew that he was a big target for Voldemort. With this in mind, they chose Peter, who immediately told Voldemort their location and plans.

13 1981 - Sirius Black Framed By Peter Pettigrew

via wizardsandwhatnot.com

Not long after the attack on the Potters, Peter Pettigrew completed his trifecta of betrayal. Pettigrew framed Sirius Black as the mole within the Order of the Pheonix, immediately landing Sirius with a life-long Azkaban sentence. This was one of the final and most personal betrayals that officially broke the Marauders crew and both Remus and Sirius' hearts. After his plan was executed, Peter went into hiding to avoid facing the consequences of his actions and serve Lord Voldemort.

12 1981 - Harry Potter Sent To The Dursleys

via howtomash.com

1981 is one of the most important years for Harry Potter fans and it was this decision that started it all. Dumbledore, after realizing that Lily's love had shielded Harry from the brunt of Voldemort's attacks, acted fast to secure his safety. Thinking that hiding the boy in a Muggle-style haystack would be safest, Dumbledore sent Harry to live with the Dursleys at Privet Drive in Surrey. The three people to see him off were Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, and Hagrid.

11 1990-1991 - Quirinus Quirrell Went On Sabbatical

via meme-arsenal.com

First of all, I never knew Professor Quirrell's first name until now. Second, it is good to know that there are sabbaticals in the wizarding world. Anyway, Quirrell traveled around for a year seeking knowledge and stumbled upon the frail form of Voldemort. Voldemort immediately partially possessed Quirrell and began seeking the Philosopher's Stone. Voldemort believed that it would bring him a new body and the strength he needed to rise again. We all know that this plan did not exactly turn out how he wanted it to.

10 1998 - Hermione Took Her N.E.W.T.S.

via harrypotter.wikia.com

What with all of the tension and war going on at Hogwarts and throughout the wizarding world, taking exams was kind of a low priority. Unfortunately for Hermione, there was not a chance to take the tests between surviving under Snape and the Battle of Hogwarts. In a classic move that surprises no-one, Hermione returned to Hogwarts once things cooled down to take her N.E.W.T.S. (which she passed with flying colors because it's our girl Hermione we are talking about).

9 1998 - Hermione Worked In The Ministry Of Magic

via thats-normal.com

After getting her results, Hermione quickly got a job working for the Ministry of Magic in the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. It was here that Hermione started formulating her campaign to protect and free house elves. She learned about what problems both house elves and the magical creature community as a whole were facing and began to think of ways to solves these issues. Hermione got her hands dirty and got up close to the community on a personal and real level.

8 1998 - Hermione Became A Lawmaker

via youtube.com

Using what she learned in the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Hermione really hustled in her house elf campaign when she transferred to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. It was here that she turned up the heat on wizarding society and began fighting hard. She used her knowledge of the law to create new laws and form a movement that changed wizarding society forever. Hermione fulfilled a dream and I know that Dobby was proud of her for freeing his brethren.

7 ? - Harry Potter And Ginny Weasley Got Married

via pottermore.com

At some point between 1998 and 2017, Harry and Ginny finally sealed the deal and got married. We do not know much about dating in a post-Voldemort world, but it must have been much more relaxing. Ginny has liked Harry for over a decade at this point, so I imagine it was a relief to finally get to be with her first love in a safe and long-term way. They could support each other through the tough days, the grief, and the heartache and carve out a little bit of happiness for themselves.

6 ? - Hermione Granger And Ron Weasley Got Married

via mashable.com

This one was a long time coming. After years of arguing, flirting, and dating Hermione and Ron finally tied the knot and settled in for the long run. Like with most of the marriages in the series, we do not know the exact date that they got married, but it is estimated to have occurred between 1998 and 2017. These two were bound to end up together and would make an excellent pair of parents. They also have a lot of familial support from the Weasleys. It is good that Hermione found a new family for herself after all this time.

5 2004, 2006 - Kids Are Born

via fanpop.com

The Golden Trio have seen a lot of trials over the years, but the 2000s brought a new challenge; kids. James Sirius Potter was born in 2004 while Rose Granger-Weasley and Albus Severus Potter were both born in 2006. There were more kids to come, but these were enough for that moment. These kids were sure to grow up to be best friends and continue the bond between the Golden Trio. I bet having multiple wizard kids is a lot, especially if they have Potter and Weasley blood in them.

4 2007 - Harry Potter Became Head Auror

via nerdist.com

While at Hogwarts, Harry did not seem to have much time to think about a career. He was going from studying for classes to sneaking around to fighting Voldemort constantly every year. In later years, there was also teaching Dumbledore's Army and stalking Draco Malfoy to consider, which meant the guy had a full schedule. Even with all of these extra commitments, he managed to get a decent score in his O.W.L.s and being the famous Harry Potter had its advantages. Being an Auror seemed a good choice.

3 2008 - More Kids Are Born

via harrypotter.wikia.com

As if having two and one kid respectively was not enough, there were yet more little ones coming along in 2008. Hugo Granger-Weasley and Lily Luna Potter were next to come along for our beloved trio. It's interesting that both Ginny and Hermione both got pregnant at around the same time each time so far. If things were not a handful before, they definitely were after these two were added to the family. It is sweet that they continued the trend of naming their kids after their loved ones.

2 The Late 2010s? - Luna Lovegood Marries Rolf Scamander

via harrypotter.wikia.com

While many movie fans shipped Luna and Neville Longbottom together, it turns out that that relationship was not meant to be. In typical Harry Potter fashion, at some point unknown to us, Luna started dating Rolf Scamander AKA the descendant of Newt Scamander. This coupling and eventual marriage was an easy and sweet way for Rowling to connect the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter universes together. I bet they are a sweet and eccentric couple, going off what we know about Luna and Newt.

1 2019 - Hermione Becomes Minister For Magic

via independent.co.uk

In a wild and awesome move for wizard-kind, 2019 saw Hermione take the role of Minister for Magic. As far as we know from lore and records, there has never been a female Minister for Magic until now, making this victory extra sweet for Hermione. This appointment truly is the culmination of all of her hard work and determination and I absolutely commend her for making this happen. Am I the only one who feels ridiculously proud of her when I think of this? I guess Hermione really did sort out her priorities in the end.
