The artist 50 Cent first blew up in the early 2000s, with most fans agreeing that his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin' was his best work, and 2005's The Massacre a close second. After that, however, fans think that 50's career in music dropped off.

Worse, they think he's outright given up on trying to imitate his past successes in rap. But why?

50 Cent's Sound Has Changed, Say Fans

Even super-fans of 50 agree that he essentially "peaked" nearly a decade ago. In fact, some say they don't think he can "reclaim his status in the game" at this point. Mostly, it's because his music has changed, commenters agreed, so in theory, a lot of former listeners won't be attracted to his newer stuff.

While he "perfected" his sound before releasing those first two bangers, fans think that after that, 50 sort of gave up on his music career. True, he has claimed to be working on music right now, and it's even Wikipedia official with a 2021 TBD date.

Yet fans think 50's newest music still won't achieve the greatness of albums past, and they don't think 50 Cent really cares.

Did 50 Cent Give Up On His Music?

Looking at 50 Cent's long list of business ventures, it's clear that music is no longer the only thing he does. That, say fans, is where his motivation lies; he wanted fame and success, they argue, and he's already achieved that.

One fan seemed to sum up the overall vibe that everyone else was putting down; "he let it go to his head so he got lazy with his music." Yet getting lazy hasn't seemed to impact 50's greater career at all -- only his album-related success.

After all, 50 Cent has "had huge success and has stated that he's done everything he wanted to do," fans point out, and despite monetary losses in recent years, 50 still has plenty of wealth to throw around.

Besides, he's also continuing to flex his cash in the pettiest of ways, so though new music may be forthcoming, it's not the highlight of his celebrity these days.

50 Cent Is Famous For So Much More Than Rap

So he might be lazy, or maybe he realized he doesn't really have to work at remaining relevant anymore. Either way, fans say, "There was not one time he did an interview or released something and it wasn't posted and spread through the internets."

It's a phenomenon 50 has clearly realized, as he often reposts Instagram headlines about himself, including gossip and inaccuracies, just to poke fun. Maybe there's a method to his marketing after all.
