Adoption is a big part of an animal's life. Being out in the wilderness is dangerous, and full of uncertainties. Animals don't know whether they will be able to make it to next week, they fight predators, weather, hunger, even humans destroying their habitats and homes. As such, when an animal is adopted, they're free from the stresses and burdens of all that chaos, and the change is astonishingly stark. Take the pets below, who were in horrible places until they were adopted, and their lives have never been brighter.

While rescues and shelters are important, they're less than ideal locations to keep an animal. After all, they have limited resources, and lots of animals to look after. That's why when they find a home where they belong, it's easily the best thing that could have happened to them.

As stated earlier, even animals that are rescued aren't in the best condition. They're scared and terrified of the outside world –for good reason– and human beings, which seem to be so larger in size and number, are often something of which animals are instinctively fearful. So going from that to being overjoyed to sunbathe with your owner is a wholesome and heartwarming change.
