If dedicated primetime viewers are experiencing illusions of going into a time warp every time they click on their remotes, they can be forgiven. The classic reboot is now the new normal on the TV landscape, triggered by the likes of last season's reunion of Will & Grace and the March unveiling of Roseanne 2.0. Heck, even the MTV folks are jumping on the bandwagon with those crazy inebriates from Jersey Shore returning to the beachhouse circuit.

Now Helen Hunt wants to cash in, by bringing back Mad About You, the NBC sitcom that ran for seven seasons in the '90s. And who can blame her? The retrovision route is the television sector's last gasp and backlash against the millennial circuit that's been veering away from network fare in droves, opting for options like YouTube and Netflix for their entertainment fixes.

Demographic shifts notwithstanding, the 54-year-old Hunt stated on a Wednesday episode of Ellen that she'd like to reunite with co-star Paul Reiser to revive the show, a comedic slice of life about a newly-married pair of Big Apple residents.

"I hope it is," said Hunt to host Ellen DeGeneres. "It's not for sure yet. I will say that Paul Reiser is in my kitchen a good amount because we're talking about how to make it and not wreck it, because we're proud of what we did."

According to some media sources, the two are beyond the talking stage, with reports that both Hunt and Reiser have already signed contracts to bring the show back, although it's unclear on when the reboot will take place and which network or carrier will host the program. It's a far cry from what Reiser said in 2016, however, when he cited that the show's season finale in 1999 contained a futuristic look at the couple.

"We saw where they went," said Reiser at the time. "Part of why we did that was to avoid the temptation of going back."

No doubt Reiser, now 64, is changing his tune. In 2011, he had a comedy bearing his name in the title, but it lasted for only two episodes. He also managed to get a few cameos on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Stranger Things, but hasn't had the enjoyment of a steady paycheck for years.

Hunt, on the other hand, got plum roles in the blockbuster Twister and As Good As It Gets, which won her a best actress Oscar. Lately, she's been setting her sights on directing, including the recently-released movie The Miracle Season and the sitcom Splitting Up Together, which stars former Office actress Jenna Fischer and is produced by DeGeneres.
