Not many people know the Oscar-winning actor has a similar-looking little brother.

Doug Pitt is a businessman, investor, and philanthropist. He is also the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Republic of Tanzania. The 53-year-old is the founder of Care To Learn, a United States domestic charity that focuses on meeting the emergent needs of students in the areas of health, hunger, and hygiene.

Doug founded the organization after hearing some staggering statistics about poverty in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri. He was shocked when he learned the growing trend of poverty from a local businessman who lived in the community for over 40 years.

Doug shared the information he had learned with others, including children living in poverty who had to share a toothbrush, a fifth-grade boy who was being made fun of because he had to wear his mother’s jeans and teenage girls missing school because of the lack of personal hygiene products. Within 24 hours, Doug contacted community leaders to create a fund that met the emergent needs of students in the areas of health, hunger, and hygiene. With the support of the community, Care To Learn was established in 2008.

In 2019, the organization announced it had met the needs of children over one million times.

Doug Gave A TED Talk On Technology, Nonprofits, And The Emerging World In 2012

In the presentation, Doug shares his experiences in the developing world, as well as his work as an entrepreneur, which has shown him how to combat poverty by meeting basic needs in underserved communities. He shares by using economic incentives and socially responsible business practices, social poverty and destitution can be curbed while meeting basic human needs. In the process, people can also give those less fortunate the tools to support their own communities, and other communities, in the future.

Like his famous brother, Doug has acted as well. Pitt became a spokesperson for Virgin Mobile Australia, portraying "The Second Famous Pitt", a parody of his comedic likeness as the brother of Brad Pitt. The initial web video garnered over 1,200,000 Youtube views in its first week. The campaign became the most successful in history for Virgin Mobile, becoming one of the top 5 viewed online ads in the world in just its first month.

He appeared in a 2019 commercial where he parodied the ending of the movie Se7en for Mother's Brewing Company.  In the commercial, Doug performs a wholesome interpretation of his brother Brad's role as Detective David Mills and delivers the movie's most famous line, “What’s in the booooooox?”

Living in your sibling's shadow can't be easy, but Doug Pitt has managed to make a name for himself. Doug resides in his hometown with his wife and three kids. According to Nicki Swift, he ran his own technology company for more than two decades before selling it to pursue his philanthropic interests. He created his own charity that gives back to his hometown as well as working to provide clean water access to citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania as the Goodwill Ambassador.
