There is so much to adore about the classic teen movie She's All That, especially the fact that it's a film about a makeover and a bet. This is often a popular storyline for movies and TV shows, and fans loved watching Laney Boggs meet and fall for Zach Siler. Not everyone believes that classics should be rebooted and it makes sense that some people have reservations about Netflix's remake of this movie.

Addison Rae sings in He's All That, which has gotten everyone talking, but fans didn't like the movie's trailer.

How do people feel about the movie, though? Let's take a look.

Fan Reaction

Fans recognize Tanner Buchanan in He's All That as the actor starred in Cobra Kai. And now that people have gotten a chance to watch the Netflix remake of She's All That, what do they really think about it?

A fan of the movie asked for opinions in a Reddit thread and wrote that He's All That is "watchable" but "generic." They explained, "I felt as though this movie is such a generic rom-com with a very basic storyline and plot."

The fan got another reply in the same Reddit thread, with someone saying that his wife enjoyed watching it and he explained, "Sometimes it's just nice to turn the brain off and enjoy a movie for what it is, even if it is bad. For the record I didn't watch it with her, but she said she really enjoyed it more than she expected."

In another Reddit thread, a fan noted that they thought that Tanner was a good actor but otherwise, it wasn't the best. They wrote, "Thought it was a B-type of remake. The male lead, Tanner was really good and a solid actor. Was of course in awe seeing Rachel Leigh Cook in the movie."

Comparing The Two Movies

Of course, when talking about He's All That, a comparison to She's All That is totally inevitable. How did people who have seen both films like the new one?

As fans might expect, someone posted on Reddit and said that the OG movie is much better. This definitely tends to be the story with remakes or reboots. It can be hard for fans to feel the same way about a new movie as they did about the original, especially if it meant a lot to them. This fan wrote, "This movie doesn’t even come near the original. The 80’s and 90’s set the bar extremely high for anything to complete."

For another fan, a bright spot of He's All That was seeing Rachael Leigh Cook and Matthew Lillard since their roles in She's All That are so beloved. They wrote, "I liked how Rachel Leigh Cook was there, I almost thought it was a real sequel to She's All That. I also liked how we saw Matthew Lillard! Brings me back to my childhood because I was so young watching them in movies!!"

Making 'He's All That'

Right away, fans of She's All That know that the remake turns things around and is gender-swapped as Addison Rae's character is an influencer who wants to give her classmate a makeover. Instead of unpopular girl Laney, it's unpopular boy Cameron.

For those who were pre-teens or in high school when the original film came out, it might be tough to imagine loving the new one as much, but it seems like the heart of the original is still present in the remake, as both movies are about there being more to life than just being popular.

When interviewed about acting in He's All That, Addison told Variety that she wanted to learn what she could about acting and do a great job in the movie. Addison said, "I was taking [acting] classes probably seven days a week before the film started and [spending] like hours and hours a day doing script analysis. I definitely made sure to take it seriously."

It sounds like Addison wants to do more acting in the future as she told Entertainment Weekly, "I would love to work with [Euphoria star] Alexa Demie. I did pilates with her not long ago, and she was so cool."

While not everyone is loving He's All That, as some think it's a passable and sweet movie that offers up some entertainment value and others don't think it measures up to the original, it's definitely fun and interesting to hear what movie fans are saying. And at least movie fans will always have the charming original to watch as many times as they want.
