The actress, who made her film debut in the 2009 film 'The Blind Side', has since become one of the most talked-about stars in Hollywood. How Lily Lost Her Accent

The star appeared alongside Sandra Bullock, who took home the Academy Award for her role in the film, and it was all in for Lily from then on out. After a series of successful films, it was only a matter of time before Lily scored herself a Netflix show, and she did just that! Netflix released the hit show, 'Emily In Paris', where Collins plays none other than Emily Cooper, and while she may appear as a naive American, Lily is no stranger to Europe in real life.
The star was born in Guildford, United Kingdom, which is about an hour outside of London, and while she may have lived primarily in Los Angeles for most of her life, Lily was born and raised in England and grew up speaking with a British accent. The actress spoke with Wired, where she and co-star, Nicholas Hoult, answered several Google questions, one of which posed whether Lily speaks with an accent or not.
Lily, who was born to uber-famous dad, Phil Collins, and fellow actress mother, Jill Tavelman, spent her earliest days in the UK, and she had quite the accent! While she considers herself more British than American, you wouldn't be able to tell Lily grew up in England, and it's all because she purposefully got rid of her accent! During her interview, Lily revealed that she had a "very very strong accent", however, after moving to LA and wanting to fit in, Lily was teased and ultimately made the decision to blend in more.
So, in order to lose the accent and sound more Americanized, Lily would watch 'Peter Pan' on repeat, reciting the lines of the film back in an American accent. While it didn't happen overnight, Lily quickly embraced her American side and managed to lose the accent altogether!
