Saweetie has quickly become one of the most promising female rappers in the music industry, and her success on the charts has proven just that. Over the summer of 2017, she dropped her hit single Icy Girl, which gained so much attraction on streaming platforms that Warner Records ended up reaching out in interest to sign her to their record label.

Under its roster, Warner also works with the likes of Brandy, Bebe Rexha, Cher, Ciara, Dua Lipa, and many more, so it seemed to be a no-brainer for the Santa Clara native to sign a contract with the firm, which has since seen her reach career heights nobody expected from the 26-year-old, who was once uploading her songs for free on SoundCloud.

To date, Saweetie, who's been in a longtime relationship with Migos' Quavo, has reportedly amassed an incredible $5 million fortune, and while she’s presumably making a lot money from her music and songwriting credits, she’s also quite the businesswoman, who has fronted numerous partnerships with fashion companies such as Fashion Nova and PrettyLittleThing.

How Did Saweetie Earn Her Money?

In February 2018, just under two years after releasing Icy Girl, Saweetie’s music career was in full effect when she landed a lucrative record deal with Warner.

In case you’re wondering what made the contract lucrative, it would be the fact that she wasn’t just offered a standard deal with the firm but also launch her ICY label imprint in association with Artistry and Warner, which meant that she would evidently earn more money from her music sales.

"You know you have something special when an artist immediately connects in the way SAWEETIE has,” COO & Co-Chairman of Warner Bros. Records said in a statement at the time.

"SAWEETIE's empowering lyrics, street-smart sensibilities and flawless delivery have perfectly collided to make 'ICY GRL' a viral sensation and SAWEETIE an artist to champion. Huge thanks to our partner Max Gousse and Warner's own Eesean Bolden for bringing SAWEETIE to us. We're thrilled to help bring her unique talent to the masses.”

And while Icy Girl was a big hit for Saweetie at the time, her song, My Type, in June 2019 was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, selling well over two million copies in the United States and spawning a remixed version with Jhene Aiko and City Girls in August 2019.

Aside from music, Saweetie is definitely one hell of an entrepreneur, who reportedly signed a million-dollar deal to front her very own collection with fashion firm PrettyLittleThing, who’s partnered with a string of celebs in the past, including Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Teyana Taylor, Karrueche, Sofia Richie, and many more.

The best part about signing the deal with PLT meant that once the collection was ready to be launched, she learned that the company’s chief executive Umar Kamani had acquired a venue to show off the fashionable attire at New York Fashion Week in September 2019.

Not only that, but Saweetie’s fashion show also had the likes of Ashanti and fellow rapper Lil Kim perform at the occasion, while Paris Hilton and her longtime beau Quavo were just some of the celebs showing their support for her collection launch.

Speaking about her partnership with PLT, Saweetie had told The Voice: “The collaboration with PrettyLittleThing came about through my manager Max Gousse and the owner of PLT [PrettyLittleThing] Umar Kamani. They discussed some ideas and thought that I would be a great fit for the collab, and I’m very happy that he followed through and created this collaboration.”

“My favourite look would have to be the diamond dress. It’s so sexy but yet so unique and something that definitely stands out. My real name is Diamonte, so naturally, I’m already loving that dress.”

To date, Saweetie has released two extended plays: Icy, and 2018’s High Maintenance, and while fans are still waiting for her to release her debut album, it seems as if the highly-anticipated project is just around the corner.

Having initially planned to drop the album, titled Pretty B**h Music, over the summer of 2020, those plans ended up being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic — but that doesn’t mean that Saweetie doesn’t intend on releasing the LP in the near future.

When asked how she came up with the title for the record, she told HypeBae:
"The 'Pretty Bitch' movement came about when I started the “pretty girl tap in” on Twitter. I really like that different types of boys and girls who look different were all tapping in because beauty is unique.

“We should not all be looking alike but on social media a lot of people are starting to look alike. We need to celebrate our differences. The key inspirations behind my new album was being a boss, getting money, loving my family, talking about them more and also just exploring my Filipino roots again.

“I wanted to do something that highlighted the Filipino culture because I have a couple lyrics that are in Tagalog so I think that’s cool.”
