If you are a Quentin Tarantino fan you must know about the famous director's foot fetish, which has ultimately made its way into many of the director's iconic films. In pretty much every Tarantino film there has been at least one case of women's feet displayed somehow somewhere. While it is curious, we're wondering what Tarantino's actresses think about his fetish and having their feet out-stage them.

Tarantino is a mastermind for making cult classics. His movies are very distinguishable, what with all the outrageous language, awesome soundtracks, and of course A-list reoccurring actors including Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and Brad Pitt, to name a few, all while having crazy violence and of course, we can't forget the feet!

Updated on September 18, 2021, by Michael Chaar: Quentin Tarantino is easily one of the biggest film directors like...ever. The star has created some of the best classics, like Pulp Fiction, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and Kill Bill to name a few, however one thing many fans don't know, is that the director has been said to have quite a foot fetish. Each of his iconic films include a foot scene, whether it be from the leading lady herself, or a conversation about foot massages, as heard between Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta's charactes in Pulp Fiction. Well, while a few of Tarantino actresses including Margot Robbie and Uma Thurman don't mind it too much, Margaret Qualley had a bit more hesitation, mainly because she didn't like how her feet looked. As for Diane Kruger, she hadn't even heard of his alleged fetish prior to singing on to Inglorious Basterds.

Despite it being the talk of Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino stands firm that the fetish was created by the media, as he denies really having one.

'Pulp Fiction' Stirred Up The Controversy

When Pulp Fiction came out people started to suspect Tarantino's fetish. Uma Thurman was essentially barefoot throughout the entire film, something, at first glance, could have been overlooked as a quirky habit for the character. Nor were the feet any sort of symbol for anything. They were simply there because Tarantino demanded them there.

Tarantino's other movies showcase women's feet in or out of shoes as well. Jackie Brown, features Bridget Fonda's feet, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 again displayed Uma Thurman's feet, Death Proof saw Kurt Russell actually lick Rosario Dawson's feet, Inglorious Bastards saw Diane Kruger's feet being slipped into the heel she left behind during the Nazi shootout. All of Tarantino's leading ladies feet seemed to have been shown, all the way down to his latest movie, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.

Margot Robbie Enjoyed Walking Around Barefoot

In this film the feet cameos seem to be even more in your face. Margot Robbie, who played Sharon Tate, who actually did like to walk around barefoot, showed her feet in a great duel of scenes with Margaret Qualley and her feet. Just as Tate watches her film at the movies with her black feet propped up on the seat in front of her, Pussycat is pressing her feet into Brad Pitt's characters car wind shield. With the amount of cuts in between the two scenes it's almost like the two pairs of feet are battling it out to get more screen time.

Margaret Quelly Didn't Want To Show Her Feet

It is also Qualley who was less sure about the fetish than Tarantino's other leading ladies. "I genuinely was like, 'Quentin, this is a bad idea. I don't have good feet,'" Qualley told IndieWire about being hesitant about showing her toes. "I was in pointe shoes for far too long to have toes that can be shown to the world."

"We had a big debate about it, me, Quentin, and Brad, with them trying to be like, 'You’re fine,' and me being like, 'No, guys, really, look, these are not good,'" Qualley continued. "'I know that I undermine myself pretty regularly, but I’m genuinely telling you these are not good feet, look at these. I know I’m self-deprecating, but I’m not being in this particular instance.'"

Eventually she did it and Tarantino got what he needed, and in the end Qualley felt better about her feet. "I used to actually be pretty mortified with my feet," the rising star said. "Maybe I can finally just give up that now."

Diane Kruger Hadn't Even Heard Of The Foot Stories

Other actresses are not as creeped out or hesitant to show off their toes. Diane Kruger talked about her feet scene in Inglorious Bastards to SheKnows.com, "The true story is that I did not know about his apparent foot thing (laughs). When I first got the job, I was interviewed by some journalist, and he said 'So, have you read the foot scene yet?' and he filled me in on this whole thing. I was like 'Wow, I didn’t know that'. So the day comes and I go 'Quentin, are you excited? Today’s the foot day. Good day at work, huh'? And (he) said, 'Oh, it’s all made up. Don’t even think that that’s true. It’s all made up by media.' 'Oh, okay.' Six close-ups later on my foot and not on my face, and I say, 'Sure, sure thing, Quentin.' So, I don’t know. You ask him."

When asked if she got a pedicure before her feet scenes, the actress responded, "I made sure? He made sure. Are you kidding me? And my foot has never looked better, ever."

Quentin Still Denies He Has A Foot Fetish

Thurman, who also had Tarantino drink from her high heel once, agrees with Kruger about Tarantino denying his fetish, and seems perfectly okay constantly displaying her feet. "Well, it started in Pulp Fiction with that foot massage speech," Thurman said according to Irish Examiner. "He denies his foot fetish, but he's accused of it regularly. I don't think it's me in particular. Many people commented during Kill Bill that he could release a whole version entirely on the foot-shots that he took of all the actors, shoed, un-shoed."

So while we don't know how to feel about the fetish Tarantino might or might not have, at least his actresses were okay with it and didn't really find it weird at all. Who's Tarantino kidding though, we know he really enjoys those "foot days" and takes extra care about getting them right. If we were the actresses though we'd feel a little mad he was more concerned with our feet than our faces. Maybe you have to have feet like Brie Larson, to not get a feet scene.
