When Young Justice announced that it was going to make its comeback with its third season, fans were ecstatic. The show debuted on Cartoon Network on November 26, 2010, and went for 26 episodes, ending on April 21, 2012. The shows second season was started a week later on April 28, 2012, and was called Young Justice: Invasion. The season lasted for only 20 episodes, ending on March 16, 2013.

There were plans to continue the series the following year but Warner Brothers was hesitant. The budget for the show came directly from the toys sales of the figurines based on the show, and because the toys were not selling well, the company that produced them, Mattel, would be pulling them entirely.

In December 2013, Kevin Smith and the show's creator Paul Dini had a conversation in an episode of Smith's Fat Man on Batman podcast addressing the 2013 cancellation of  Young Justice and other shows Dini had created that were airing during the same time. Dini claimed that the network executives did not want girls watching the programs because "they don't buy toys," and wanted more boys watching. Network executives denied that the show's female viewership was a factor in its cancellation.

The series was later put on Netflix, causing its fanbase to have a resurgence and demand a third season. This culminated in Warner Brothers announcing on April 25, 2017, that Young Justice would be getting a fourth season that would air exclusively on DC Universe, Warner Brothers streaming platform exclusively for DC content.

The 3rd season was called Young Justice: Outsiders and aired in two separate parts. Each part was thirteen episodes, with the first part airing from January 4th of 2019 to January  25th, 2019.  The second half of the season aired from July 7th to August 27th of that same year.

The new season introduced a few new characters, mainly, Halo, Geoforce and Forager and focused on them being part of a new team called "The Outsiders." The season lived up to fans' expectations and after the last episode aired fans couldn't wait to hear an announcement of a fourth season.

Fans got their wish on July 20, 2019. While at San Diego Comic-Con it was announced by series creators Vietti and Weisman that DC Universe had renewed the series for a fourth season.

What Will The Plot Be Like?

(Spoilers for Young Justice, especially season 3, ahead!)

Young Justice season 4 has a lot of expectations from fans. The show's third season set up a lot of things, especially near the end of it, so there's going to need to be some big payoff.

The biggest one is the cliff hanger of Brion, AKA Geoforce, killing his uncle and becoming king of Markovia not knowing that he is being psychically influenced by the villainous group The Light. This puts Brion at odds with his former teammates and mentors, as well as his girlfriend Halo, AKA Violet Harper. The team will have to uncover the fact that Brion is actually being influenced by The Light without his knowledge and then work to free him from their control.

The second thing that Young Justice Season 3 set up was at the very final scene of the season. A bunch of the heroes are all celebrating at a small diner and a waitress is going around refilling coffee. We get a zoom in on that Waitress's hands we can see a ring for the Legion of Superheros on her finger. The Legion of Superheros is a super team from the year 3000 and are usually involved in time-travel stories.

Fans speculate that this character is a member of the Legion of Superheros and that the Young Justice team is going to deal with some time-travel shenanigans in the fourth season.

Fans also think that this is going to be the show's way of bringing back Kid Flash AKA Wally West. Kid Flash "died" in the second season but it wasn't a standard death. He was seemingly pulled into the speed force, the source of his power. Some fans are saying that the scene where he "died" wasn't his death but more so him travelling to the future and somehow getting trapped there.

These are two pretty big things that are going to need some pay off in the fourth season and all this without mentioning that Jason Todd, AKA the second Robin who "died" is definitely one of the assassins that attacked the team on Ras Al Ghul's island.
