In March 2020, pop superstar Billie Eilish debuted her new blonde hair color after rocking her black tresses with dyed bright green strains for roughly two years.

The 19-year-old went on to break a record on Instagram after amassing an incredible one million likes in just six minutes, while the post itself has since become one of the most-liked photos on the platform with over 22.1 million double taps.

As the days went by, however, it seemed as if the “Everything I Wanted” star felt inclined to share just how much work it took to pull off the hair transformation, admitting that for her Grammys performance on March 14, she was actually sporting a wig since she was still in the process of making the hair change.

If you’ve ever dyed your hair before, you’d know that switching from black to blonde is no easy task, which is why Billie spent six weeks wearing wigs until her transformation was done and she could finally show off her beautiful locks.

Billie Eilish Spent Six Weeks Wearing Wigs

After breaking the internet when she debuted her lighter hair color on Instagram, Billie came forward and shared just how challenging it was in order to get the shade of blonde she desired.

During an Instagram Q&A session with her millions of fans, the “Bad Guy” hitmaker said her hair had surprisingly remained relatively healthy after the bleaching process, adding, “It’s actually healthier than it’s been in a longggggggg time.”

Another fan later asked the singer-songwriter what made her stay silent from wanting to share the hair color switch-up with the world, to which she responded by saying that the process took six weeks to achieve the shade of blonde she wanted, so she opted to wear wigs in the meantime.

After sharing a photo of her hair on January 16, after applying the first round of bleach, fans could certainly notice that certain parts of her tresses had turned to an orange-brown color.

Almost two months later, however, and Billie had the ultimate beach blonde locks she wanted.

Meanwhile, back in February 2021, the Interscope-signed artist revealed she had made the most out of her downtime from work following the coronavirus pandemic, which quite literally brought the world to a standstill.

With lockdown measures being extended throughout 2020, Billie decided to utilize the time to commence work on her sophomore album, which still hasn’t gotten a release date but is expected to hit stores before the year’s end.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Billie gushed that she had already recorded enough material to fill an entire album, adding that she’s been experimenting with new sounds in the studio that’s sure to surprise people once they hear the new music.

“There’s a couple of moments on this album where I pull some tricks out. It’s really just about what I feel like sounds good,” she said.

Interestingly enough, Billie said that if it hadn’t been for the world crisis, she probably wouldn’t have been able to put together the project she’s been working on for the past year, describing the melodies and tracks as a huge shift to what she offered on her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

“I don’t think I would’ve made the same album, or even the album at all, if it weren’t for Covid,” she explained. “That doesn’t mean it’s about Covid at all, it’s just that, when things are different in your life, you’re different. That’s just how it is. So, I have to thank Covid for that, and that’s about it.

The California native has broken all kinds of records since her breakthrough year in 2019, having also scooped up five awards at the 2020 Grammys, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist, while another four nods were issued at the 2021 edition.

Speaking at the annual occasion after her win, she said, "This is really embarrassing for me. Megan, girl! I was gonna write a speech about how you deserve this, but then I was like, 'There's no way they're gonna choose me.' I was like, 'It's hers.’"

"You deserve this. You had a year that I think is untoppable. You are a queen, I want to cry thinking about how much I love you. You're so beautiful. You're so talented. You deserve everything in the world," she added.

"I think about you constantly, I root for you always. You deserve it, honestly, genuinely, this goes to her. Can we just cheer for Megan Thee Stallion, please?”
