It feels like such an icky thing to say, but the truth is that fans seem to suspect that Jessica Alba's daughter Haven Garner Warren was adopted. Not that adoption itself is "icky," though it can definitely be tough both for biological and adoptive families, but simply because it's sort of a rude and nosy accusation to make.

But the truth is, one of the top suggested search terms related to Jessica Alba's middle child has to do with whether or not the ten-year-old is adopted. So why do fans wonder about the beautiful little girl's biology? It has to do with how utterly adorable she is.

Is Jessica Alba's daughter Haven adopted? The short answer is an emphatic no, Haven isn't adopted. But there's more to discuss!

How Many Kids Did Jessica Alba Give Birth To?

Jessica and her husband Cash Warren welcomed their first child in 2008, and Honor Marie became a big sister in 2011 when Haven Garner was born. Six years later, little brother Hayes arrived.

(and yes, the couple's marriage has lasted an impressively long time by Hollywood standards!)

That makes Jessica's kid count three, and due to the lack of public statements by the couple regarding possible surrogacy or adoption, fans can only assume the children were all born biologically and without the use of artificial insemination.

Not that it matters either way, but in general, most celebrities like to talk about the way they grow their families. Especially the Alba-Warren family, being that they're the face of an entire brand dedicated to babies and children.

Why Doesn't Haven Garner Warren Look Like Jessica Alba?

So it's pretty clear that Haven isn't adopted, because her parents probably would have mentioned that. Because again, adoption isn't taboo at all.

But it's true that a lot of people have pointed out how little Haven Garner Warren resembles her mom. They've also noticed that older sibling Honor looks a lot like Jessica, with her similarly chestnut hair and complexion.

And little brother Hayes kind of looks just like dad Cash, though his curly dark hair seems to be a combination of his parents' styles. But thanks to both her parents' contributions to the gene pool, Haven has gorgeous red hair and to be honest, just doesn't look like Jessica.

In fact, she doesn't look like her dad very much either, according to some eagle-eyed fans, but there's a simple explanation for that: the family's varied heritage.

The thing is, Haven's distinctive looks were also surprising to Jessica right when her beloved baby girl was first born!

Jessica Alba Admits That Haven Looks Nothing Like Her

In an interview mere weeks after Haven Garner Warren was born, Jessica Alba was posing for photographs with People and discussing her second child's arrival. One of the most surprising things of her entire pregnancy was the fact that Haven came out with red hair and a fair complexion, Alba noted.

In fact, Jessica exclaimed of the baby, "I really only expected my child to look like Honor." That makes sense, since Honor was her first and then only child!

But Haven's arrival surprised the couple, literally, with Jessica noting "It was a nice little surprise." She elaborated further, "When the two of us made such a different looking kid, it was like, ‘Okay, I guess we can do this too! It was a nice little surprise.’"

The surprise Jessica and Cash felt at Haven's looks didn't overshadow their first bonding moments, though. Jessica called Cash and Haven's connection "amazing," and it's clear the family of five remains close-knit today.

If Jessica and Cash were surprised at their little girl's looks, that probably makes fans feel a little bit better about harboring their own suspicions. The thing is, given that both parents have diverse backgrounds, it shouldn't have been a shock at all.

Jessica Alba And Cash Warren Have Surprising DNA

Given Jessica Alba's diverse roles in Hollywood, it's clear that the industry took advantage of her ethnically ambiguous appearance. She's beautiful, to be sure, but the fact that her roots include Latin, Danish, Welsh, German, French, and a handful of other ancestries means she doesn't fit neatly into one box.

In fact, in a years ago appearance on 'Finding Your Roots' on PBS, Jessica Alba learned that her background is about 72 percent European but also 22.5 percent East Asian and Native American.

Add to that the fact that Cash Warren's father is Black and his mom was Caucasian, you have a gorgeously mixed family where nearly anything can happen DNA-wise.

And though it was surprising to both Jessica and Cash to find that their little girl was fair-skinned and red-haired, many Latin and Black families wouldn't be surprised by the scenario; there's far more diversity in non-Caucasian families than some folks might expect!
