Mila Kunis is best known for her role on That 70s Show, where she played Jackie Burkhart at the age of 14. It is not commonly known that the actress has two different colored eyes, being that she wasn’t born with this condition.

The condition is called heterochromia which is "characterized by color differences of the iris," according to the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. If you look closely at her eyes, you will notice that the left eye is green and the right eye is brown.

Mila Kunis Was Blind In One Eye

According to an article published to Nicki Swift, Mila Kunis opened up about her struggle with chronic iritis for many years, an inflammation of the iris in a 2011 interview with Cosmopolitan. "I was blind in one eye for many years, and nobody knew," she told the magazine.

The Friends with Benefits star never revealed how long she lived with the condition, but she underwent surgery to repair it in 2010. "I'm not blind anymore. I had surgery a couple of months ago. They cut it open and dropped a new lens in there," she said.

Following the surgery, the repaired eye began to change color. Now, Kunis has one brown and one green eye. The condition can be generated by genetics or an eye injury.

So... How Many People Live With This Condition?

Kunis isn’t the only celebrity to have heterochromia, being that only one percent of the population lives with this condition. According to Direct Expose, Kunis said this condition has had a strong effect on her life. “To say my life hasn’t changed would be a lie. It has changed, I don’t really know how. I can’t complain, not that I am complaining, but I can’t leave my house as freely as I used to,” she said.

According to Insider, other celebrities live with this condition. Kate Bosworth is one of the most well-known celebrities that have two different colored eyes. In Superman Returns, director Bryan Singer told her to take off the contact lenses and just show her natural eye color.

In an interview with Sydney Morning Herald, Bosworth revealed the change was a strange adjustment. "One of the first things I had to do when I got to Australia was a screen test for my eyes with the wig and the costume, just to see if Bryan wanted to keep them the way they are. And he decided that he wanted to," Bosworth said. "So now the Lois Lane dolls have different colored eyes, which is strange."

Alice Eve from Star Trek also has one hazel and one blue eye. While on Conan in 2012, she told the story about how it took an ex-boyfriend months to realize that she had two different colored eyes. "One boyfriend, who soon wasn't my boyfriend, it took nine months to notice," she told Conan. "He was like, 'Do you have different colored eyes?' I was like, 'Are you joking? What have you been looking at?' Nine months in!"

Luckily, this condition hasn’t stopped Mila from working. In the same year of the Cosmopolitan interview, she starred in the movie Friends with Benefits alongside Justin Timberlake.
