Hershey Kisses are known for their signature pointed tips but this winter the holiday Hershey Kisses are coming tipless and broken. Home bakers and chocolate lovers alike are freaking out. Apparently, the lack of tips is making the kisses less delicious. Maybe?
But it definitely makes them less visually appealing. Packs of Hershey Kisses have been arriving with their tips broken which have been affecting the final appearance of an assortment of holiday desserts. And people are not happy.
Baked goods that are typically finished off with a little Hersey's Kiss aren't looking their best. The picture below shows what consumers have been opening up and seeing. As you can see, the chocolate tips look like they were broken off during some part of their production.
@Hersheys why are all my Hershey kisses tips broken off? My cookies look like someone bit the top off, it was every single one of them. Someone didn’t do such a great job on the QC department. pic.twitter.com/eXQTKpcg8W— Alda Luzes (@aldaluzes) December 21, 2018
Hershey Kisses finish off cookies like peanut butter blossoms and chocolate kiss cookies. But without the tips, the cookies aren't looking like these beautiful little things.
The Washington Post reported on this very important baking fiasco of the holiday season. The Hershey company is aware of the situation and issued a statement to the Washington Post.
They stated, "The iconic, conical shape is one of the reasons families have loved Kisses for generations. We shape the tip on our classic, solid Milk and Dark Chocolate Kisses to create that iconic appearance. And while there has always been some variability in that process, we are working to improve the appearance because it’s as important to us as it is to our fans."
They will be working to rectify the situation but no word if it will happen in time for the holiday baking season. All the cookie blossoms have been ruined.
It should be noted that the Kisses still taste like Hershey's chocolate and the quality of flavor hasn't been affected by the lack of tips.
The tips have been part of Hershey's brand since their debut in 1907. They're an immensely popular chocolate dessert in the U.S and they make 70 million of them every single day. Hershey's consistently makes the list for the most popular chocolate brands. In fact, 32 million Americans reported having eaten at least one Hershey's Kiss in the last 30 days.
So they're popular and no doubt delicious, and we want them with their point!
Did you notice your holiday Kisses missing the tip? Did you care? Or is this another example of first-world problems?
