Ever since the film 'Hocus Pocus' came out, fans have been frothing at the mouth for a sequel. Now, 'Hocus Pocus 2' is due to begin filming, and everyone who obsessed over the original witchy trio wants to know: will the original cast be reassembled for the film?
Will There Be A 'Hocus Pocus 2'?
For sure -- there will be a 'Hocus Pocus 2,' but not many details have been released yet. According to IMDb, the movie is slated to debut in 2022, directly onto Disney+.
But who knows whether the pandemic will push it back even further, of course. That said, fans are hoping that since this is a direct-to-Disney production, they're not promising something they can't deliver.
There's a lot of other stuff going on at Disney right now though, including a 'Monsters Inc' spinoff series, so hopefully, the queue doesn't get backed up!
Will 'Hocus Pocus 2' Have The Same Cast?
Fortunately, IMDb is able to confirm one very crucial detail: the original trio of witches will be returning for the film.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Bette Midler will revamp their roles as the Sanderson sisters, and that's half the battle right there. But what about the rest of the cast?
One of the primary concerns from fans is that the original central characters won't make a return to the small screen. However, the now-grown Dani (still-working actress Thora Birch) has hinted that she may be participating in 'Hocus Pocus 2' in some way.
She's shared updates about the movie on Twitter, hinting that 2022 will be "Mah-velous!" and egging fans on with their theories about the film's direction.
Will Dani And Max Come Back In 'Hocus Pocus 2'?
It's unclear whether the characters of Dani and Max will come back in the sequel to 'Hocus Pocus,' or if the actors may take on new roles. The central theme of the new movie will be three 'young women' who run into trouble with the Sanderson witches.
Unfortunately, that trio doesn't sound like it would involve 39-year-old "Dani" these days.
That doesn't mean Thora Birch and Omri Katz -- AKA Max -- won't return to the film. Or even Vinessa Shaw (Allison), who's still hanging around Hollywood, too.
Though it's hard to replicate the magic of an original Disney film with aged-up actors, it's not impossible. And fans are really hoping that Disney gives it a go (and that Thora Birch is still up for jumping in).
But since neither Disney+ nor IMDb wants to give any more hints about the cast, fans will just have to wait and see what happens when Halloween comes to life in 2022.
