We've talked a lot about what Hogwarts Houses mean. We grew up with the Hogwarts Houses and we all have pretty strong feelings about how we fit into the house that we either chose for ourselves or had Pottermore choose for us. However, times are changing and we've been introduced to several different wizarding schools in the Harry Potter universe. The most noteworthy of those schools is Ilvermorny, not just because it's where some of the characters from the Fantastic series of the HP universe went to school, but because we know that this school also had four houses.
While we know that the Ilvermorny Houses are Wampus, Thunderbird, Pukwudgie, and Horned Serpent, we don't know much about the personality types that end up in each house. We know that Wampus represents the body and warriors, Horned Serpent represents the mind and scholars, Pukwudgie represents the heart and healers, and Thunderbird represents the soul and adventurers. But how do both your Hogwarts and Ilvermorny Houses connect to each other? Look below to find out!
Gryffindor and Wampus are both houses represented by cats that are hard to take down. Both houses are known for being extremely loyal and acting on their instincts, so chances are, if you have this house combination, that's the kind of person you are.
Gryffindors are known for being pretty hotheaded, so that's something that you'd also relate to. Going into this more deeply, however, a Gryffindor/Wampus is more likely to frame their loyalty around the greater good. You believe in a firmly defined right and wrong: some things are just what they are, regardless of how you try and weasel your way out of things. You're probably a person who goes with your gut all the time, but when you choose a way forward, you'll stand against the world if you think that's the right thing to do. And that's admirable.
If you're a Gryffindor/Thunderbird, you're a person who might come off as a little temperamental or flighty, but deep down you're a really rational person who tends to surprise people with the depth of your thoughts.
You're a person who might be a little detached from people, not because you don't like them, but because you tend to be in your own head a lot. You're a person who likes being around people but also needs time alone to decompress. You challenge yourself more than most people do. More than any other house combination, you're okay with not knowing the answers to all of your questions. You just want to do right by everyone and everything, which is a tall order and you know it. You're an adventurer, but you're not foolish by a long shot; you look inside yourself for the answer and then go out and find it. You're a person who's often underestimated but never replicated.
To a Gryffindor/Pukwudgie, the greater good is all that matters when it comes to people. You're a bit idealistic, but that's how you've gotten as far as you have: by believing in people. Pukwudgies are healers in Ilvermorny, which makes them very people oriented, but you're also a person who would rather deal in concrete truths rather than live in the world of "what if?". If you were given a choice between saving one life guaranteed and maybe saving the lives of a 1,000 people, you probably chose to save the one life guaranteed because that's what makes the most sense to you.
As A Gryffindor/Pukwudgie, you're a person who wears your heart on your sleeve, but you're also a person who doesn't mind indulging in a little well deserved trolling, making you a bit of a joker at heart and someone who can cheer someone up without a problem.
If you're a Gryffindor/Horned Serpent, you're probably more than a little cynical. That's because while you have the Gryffindor sense of honor and chivalry, there's a part of you that needs to question how the world works. You're plenty loyal, but you're never blindly loyal, and that's where your Horned Serpent comes in. You don't put people on pedestals because that just doesn't make sense to you: people are human and every human is capable of failure. You're also a person who probably comes off like a really unconventional person, but that's because being a person who's always changing means so much to you. You never want to stop growing and learning because to you, that means that you've stopped living. It wouldn't surprise people to know that you enjoy school and constantly learning.
A Hufflepuff/Wampus is a little less likely to get caught up in their impulses than other Wampuses, but chances are you'll do literally anything for the people you love.
If you're a Hufflepuff/Wampus, chances are you value your reputation very highly. Additionally, you're probably more than a little argumentative. You don't like confrontation and would prefer that everyone get along, but you're unyielding in your convictions and you'd rather do what's right than do what's easy. The Hufflepuff/Wampus combination of houses might not have the most social finesse, but you're probably seen as an all-around good person for your unwavering honesty, which is a rare thing in the world today. According to a few polls on the subject, this house combination is the rarest one so if you got it, congratulations!
If you're a Hufflepuff/Thunderbird, you're a person who comes off as more ambitious than the other Hufflepuffs. You're not necessarily a cutthroat person, but you don't have as much of a problem bending the rules of fairness and justice to get the things you want. You have a lot of dreams and want to fulfill them at some point, and you know that there's a better future out there if you can just reach it. If you're a Hufflepuff/Thunderbird, you might be a person that has a hard time saying no because of how kind-hearted you are. That being said, you also have an independent streak a mile wide; you need to feel like you're in control and not like people are pulling you in every direction. You expect a lot of yourself, but you also want freedom from those expectations.
If you're a Hufflepuff/Pukwudgie, chances are you really are ruled by your heart over your head. This doesn't mean that you aren't smart — it's quite the opposite, in fact. It just means that you need to have a reason to do the things you do. You can't just be loyal, patient, kind, and hard-working; you need to know that you have a place in the world or at least your community. You're not a huge fan of the spotlight, but you're generally being recognized for your big heart and your willingness to help others. You might feel unappreciated sometimes and while others might not believe it, you really do have a sense of pride about yourself and what you do. You need to feel appreciation from others every once in a while. That being said, you're a very humble person deep down, you just know what you bring to the table.
If you're a Hufflepuff/Horned Serpent, then you probably have a lot of natural curiosity. However, rather than using that curiosity to learn everything you can from books, you're probably a person who loves learning about people. To you, nothing teaches quite like lived experience. You're a person who values their reputation as a person who is both intelligent and kind because both of those traits mean a lot to you. You think that being kind to other people and intellectually pushing the envelope is always the right things to do.
You're a person who probably really values practical knowledge and doing things for other people, and even though you can be a little pessimistic at times, you do believe that all good things come from there.
Ravenclaws are known for acting based on their thoughts and analyzing every situation before making a decision, which seems like it runs counter to the Wampus House. However, that couldn't be further from the truth. As a Ravenclaw/Wampus, you're a person who doesn't bother with trying to parse out the secrets of the universe. You'd rather focus on what matters in the here and now. You're the kind of person who has no problem challenging authority. You also have a very strong sense of who you are as a person. You don't like acting on anything other than the facts, but if you do choose to take a leap of faith, you'll hang onto that more tightly than anything else in the world. You are who you are and you know your place in the world, and while your big ideas sometimes get you into trouble, you know how to work out most problems.
Ravenclaw is represented by the eagle and Thunderbird is, well, a bird, so this house is a lot like Gryffindor/Wampus in the sense that both of your houses are represented by a similar animal. That being said, if you're a Ravenclaw/Thunderbird, you're probably less about the pursuit of knowledge and more about the pursuit of truth. Anything other than the truth really isn't worth knowing to you. Out of all the Hogwarts/Ilvermorny House combinations, you're the one who's the most street smart. This is because you're a practical person at heart, even if you're sometimes a bit of a hothead. You're not nearly as temperamental as some other house combinations, but you're definitely hotheaded for a Ravenclaw. This just shows how passionate you can be, though.
If you're a Ravenclaw/Pukwudgie, you're a person who really values individuality. You don't have a problem helping others, but that's not really what makes you who you are. Rather, you're a person who tends to be described as compassionate, empathetic, and above all, non-judgmental (a trait that is hard to find). You might have your gullible moments where you make friends with someone who does not deserve to be around you in any way, but at your core, you're a person who refuses to judge anyone for anything, making you extremely open-minded. It's your open-mindedness that drives your loyalty.
As a Ravenclaw/Pukwudgie, you're a person who would rather be compassionate than smart, and there's a part of you that believes that it's smart to be compassionate.
Out of all the Hogwarts/Ilvermorny House combinations, the Ravenclaw/Horned Serpent combination is probably the most conventionally like the Ravenclaw we know, so you're probably a person who loves learning — even if it's about things that don't really have much practical value. (This isn't to say that everyone who gets Ravenclaw on Pottermore will also get Horned Serpent, by the way.) Hogwarts Houses are determined by what the student values and Ilvermorny Houses are determined by the traits you have. This means that not only do you really value intelligence, but you have it in spades. Horned Serpents are described as "scholars," and combined with Ravenclaw, I'd like to say that this house combination represents the teacher mindset. You don't just like learning, you want to pass on that knowledge as well.
This house combination looks a little like the Gryffindor/Wampus, but the difference here is the kind of loyalty you value. While Gryffindor/Wampuses are all about being loyal to their values and won't compromise them, Slytherin/Wampuses are loyal to people; more specifically their people.
You're a person who values coming out on top and winning, and you're willing to do literally anything to get what you want for yourself and the people you care about. You act instinctively, but you don't charge into things like other Wampuses sometimes do. Rather, you're a person who adapts to any situation because you feel like everything you need to get through any problem is already inside of you. No one is your equal because there's no one in the world quite like you.
Out of all the Hogwarts/Ilvermorny Houses, the Slytherin/Thunderbird is the survivor of the bunch — the one who can persevere through anything. If you're a Slytherin/Thunderbird, you're a person who knows when to wait and when to move, when to speak and when to stay silent. You're a person who just needs an opportunity to prove themselves and you will make that happen. You might not necessarily have a lot of confidence in yourself as a person, but you believe in yourself more than you do in anything else. You're not the type of person who's going to trust yourself to the universe or fate: you're the master of your own fate and you're not here to let anyone take that away from you.
Slytherin/Pukwudgies are very strong-willed people, but this doesn't mean that they aren't just as ruled by their hearts as other Pukwudgies. That being said, a Slytherin/Pukwudgie is unique because of the way they wear their hearts on their sleeves. You're probably a person who has a few very deep friendships, rather than making friends with everyone you see. Moreover, while you have the set loyalties that you'd never compromise, you'd never let those loyalties dictate your decision-making. You're probably very charismatic because that's just how you operate: while you might not let people into your circle often, people can't help but like you. While you're ambitious like all Slytherins, you're also introspective and willing to figure out why you think the way you do and challenge yourself to think differently.
A Slytherin/Horned Serpent is a deeply intelligent person, but chances are they're not haunting the libraries of whatever school they go to. You're probably a very creative—even artistic—person who has at least two projects going at once. That being said, sometimes you might have a procrastination issue. This doesn't come from a place of laziness (all the time), it comes from a place of perfectionism: you need to do the right thing, the smart thing, all the time, or you'll feel like you've failed someone.
You're a person who's more proactive than reactive, so you're probably the type of person who plans out what you're going to do well in advance rather than just jumping into something going on your gut: to you that just seems dumb. You're probably the person in your group of friends with all the contingency plans in case something goes wrong.
