Cool Off With A DIY Iced Caramel Macchiato That Tastes Just Like The Starbucks Version

Eugenie from Eugenie’s Kitchen has come up with a genius way to enjoy an Iced Caramel Macchiato without leaving the comfort of your own home.

The summer favorite, which features a rich, full-bodied espresso with vanilla-flavored syrup, milk, and ice, topped with caramel and whipped cream (optional), can easily be replicated at home by following the directions below:

Iced Caramel Macchiato Recipe

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon vanilla syrup

1 cup ice cubes, large

1 cup milk, cold

2 shots espresso

1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon caramel sauce

Directions: In a blender, add in ice, vanilla syrup, cold milk, and espresso. Blend until smooth, serve and drizzle caramel sauce on top.

A great way to get coffee shop-quality espresso is to use the Nespresso CitiZ Espresso Machine by De'Longhi, which includes a 19 bar pump system that delivers barista-style single serve espresso from a Nespresso Original coffee capsule. The machine heats in just 25 seconds. The CitiZ also features an energy-saving function that turns the machine off after nine minutes if not in use.

If you’re not in the mood to actually make your own Iced Caramel Macchiato, Peet’s Coffee has just launched Peet’s True Iced Espresso, which comes in Black and White, Vanilla Latte, Caramel Macchiato and Mocha flavors, and retails for $2.99.

According to the company, the dark roast single-origin Colombian espresso used in their iced espresso "provides such deep roasted sweetness that minimal sugar and calories are needed for a pure coffee indulgence."

“Iced espressos in Peet’s coffee bars are incredibly popular, representing over 40% of our cold coffee sales,” said Gretchen Koch, director of marketing and innovation at Peet’s Coffee. “After the success of bottling our signature cold brew, we are excited to introduce a premium RTD iced espresso that can be enjoyed anywhere.

"It was not easy to craft a canned shelf-stable coffee that is worthy of Alfred Peet’s name. We focused on sourcing high-quality, clean ingredients and fine-tuning the production method to ensure a creamy coffee experience on par with the iced espresso beverages handcrafted by Peet’s baristas. By using better ingredients, our Peet’s True Iced Espresso has 25% fewer calories per ounce and 40% less sugar per ounce than the category leader, making it the perfect coffee for on the go.”

If all else fails, you can always head to Starbucks for their Iced Caramel Macchiato, but what’s the fun in that?
