Beyoncé is the queen of all things gracious. To have achieved too much yet remain so humble is beautiful to watch. Even when people try to pick fights with her or discredit her talent, she stays hydrating, minding her business, and looking fabulous for us all. Beyonce is also guarded, and protective of her space. Besides keeping off of interviews, she only attends selected events and spends most of her time growing her company and being the best mom and wife. Her recent 40th birthday, however, came with a whole set of rules, and the Queen’s new rule is to break them all.
Given her star power, it wouldn’t be surprising for people to freak out or get overly excited when meeting Beyoncé for the first time. Here are some celebrities who could not contain themselves upon meeting her, and didn’t hesitate to gush about it.
10 Cardi B
Cardi B met Beyonce backstage at the 2017 ‘Made in America’ Festival. Her reaction afterward is what all of us would have, to be honest. “ B**** I met Beyonce B****!!!” Cardi B posted on her Instagram. Later, when she was asked how it was, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ singer said, “ I’m surprised Beyonce likes me! It was like…you know when the first time you see the guy that you like? Whoooah! I can’t talk, I can’t breathe, and then… you see Jesus Christ and then you came back to life.” Cardi told ET.
9 Chrissy Teigen
When it comes to seeing celebrities in person, Chrissy Teigen says that nothing comes close to a meeting with Beyonce. “ It’s just so incredible. The aura that comes around…I mean, she just emits this aura that is spectacular.” Teigen told Jimmy Fallon. Teigen stretched it a bit too far one time. She took both of Beyonce’s hands, got down on her knees, and said, “ Sorry to bother you, my Queen.” Well, Teigen was definitely on-brand. Even though it wasn’t her first time, the encounter is one for the books.
8 Megan Thee Stallion
Within the first five minutes of meeting and talking to Beyonce, Megan Thee Stallion felt like “ I’ve been knowing her my whole life.” In a 2020 interview with Variety, the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ hitmaker revealed that she partied with the Queen all night. “ I was really in there, cutting it up. I was like ‘Wow! Beyonce accepts my turn up’. She likes ‘Satchet Megs’ and I love it!” Megan Thee Stallion told Variety.
7 Anna Kendrick
At the 2014 Grammys, Anna Kendrick, who told Conan she’s obsessed with Beyonce just like everyone else, got to meet the ‘Halo’ singer. She and her friends took a detour ‘just so we could walk past Beyonce.’ “ She was so nice, and she points to Jay-Z and says ‘ Oh we just watched you on the Kennedy Centre Honors. You were so great, so cute in your little red dress.'” Kendrick beamed as she gushed over her to Conan.
6 Nicki Minaj
Back in the early 2010s, Nicki Minaj rose to fame following her affiliation with Lil Wayne’s Cash Money Records. She earned herself a seat at the table, and eventually met Beyonce, with whom she released ‘Feeling Myself’ in 2014. On her first meeting, Nicki Minaj said, “ She is…I mean, just her name alone defines greatness. Like…that push, every woman wants to be that driven. When I met her she was a super sweetheart and the fact that she complimented me, I never forgot that.”
5 Jesse Tyler Ferguson
No one knows how to blow up a meeting with Beyonce better than Modern Family star, Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Ferguson was at Diana Ross’s birthday party when Beyonce came out to sing the birthday song. As soon as she was done, Ferguson, who was in close proximity to her at the time, tapped her on the shoulder and said the magic words, “ Beautiful.” No other words came out after that, and the Queen simply said, “Thank you.”
4 Channing Tatum
Not everyone gets to meet Beyonce while being Beyonce. None but Channing Tatum can boast of that experience. In 2016, Tatum had his first encounter with Beyonce at the Lip Sync Battle, where he was performing songs by the iconic singer. “ I wanted to bring out a cardboard cutout of Beyonce, just to be funny, and then ultimately, I end up having to meet Beyonce by doing Beyonce, and that was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done,” Tatum told Ellen DeGeneres.
3 Trevor Noah
The first time Trevor Noah met Beyonce, he had no idea he was ‘meeting’ Beyonce, even though he was at a Beyonce and Jay-Z Oscars afterparty. As the queen moved through the dance floor, saying hi to everyone, Trevor had no idea she’d say hit to him too. So, when Beyonce made her way towards him, Noah got off her path, making her do this weird absurd twist. In Noah’s defense, he didn’t want the hive to come after him for blocking Beyonce’s path.
2 SZA
When SZA met Beyonce, she had to close her eyes. Speaking to Big Boy TV, the singer said. “ First of all, she looks you like dead in the eyes, which is also kinda like ‘Ah! Stop looking at me,’ but it’s also like, ‘Oh my God!’ She’s just super beautiful in here, and her inner state... like... radiates on the outside. I was far too stunned to remember anything besides what her eye looked like. I was just a very warm breeze.”
1 Laverne Cox
In 2017, Laverne Cox met Beyonce at the Grammy’s. Excited about the moment, the Orange Is the New Black star shared a picture of her and Beyonce on Instagram and captioned it: “ This finally happened. I was so beside myself with joy, wonderment, and awe of the majestic that is the queen, I forgot to hold in my stomach and give you face, but I met Queen Bey ya’ll.”
