Finneas O'Connell may have only broken out on the mainstream stage in the last two years, but he has been working hard in the industry for nearly a decade! While we know him as Billie Eilish's older brother, he is so much more than that. O'Connell, who has been acting, singing and writing songs for as long as he can remember, is the mastermind behind a lot of Billie Eilish songs we all know and love.

The star first broke out as an actor on a number of shows, including "Modern Family" back in 2013 and 2014, however, it was his musical talents that led him to stardom. Finneas is the lead singer of The Slightlys and even headlined the Warped Tour back in 2015.

Flashforward a year and Finneas was writing a hit song for his band titled "Ocean Eyes", however, he had no idea how crazy things would soon become. After handing the song over to Billie Eilish, the two instantly blew up and it was only the beginning from then on.

A Man Of Many Talents

While we do not know much about who Finneas O'Connell is, we sure do know a lot about what he does. Despite having been labeled as "Billie Eilish's older brother", Finneas is an artist in his own right and has been in the industry long before Billie Eilish was ever even a thing.

Finneas ventured off into the world of music with his very own band, The Slightlys, who headlined the Warped Tour back in 2015. This was not Finneas' first taste at stardom, the musician also dabbled in acting as a teenager and starred in a number of roles between 2013 - 2016. O'Connell appears in "Modern Family" as Ronnie Jr. from 2013 to 2014 as the Dunphy's new neighbors.

He also played a role in "Glee" back in 2015 as Alistair and in "Aquarius" as Earnest Boy the same year. Finneas would continue to go on and play roles in films such as "Bad Teacher" with Cameron Diaz and "Life Inside Out". Brother Sister Duo

As Finneas' music career was taking off, and he had released his very ever solo track "New Girl" in 2016, the musician began songwriting on a professional level. O'Connell went ahead and wrote a stellar song titled "Ocean Eyes", which was originally meant to be written for his band, however, Finneas had a change of heart and offered the song up to his sister, Billie Eilish.

This is where things take a turn for both Finneas and Billie. After recording the song and uploading it onto Billie's SoundCloud, the track gained a whopping 170 million streams! The duo decided to film a music video for the hit song, and before either of them knew it, it was an instant hit. Finneas later introduced Billie to Platoon, an A&R company that was willing to sign her on for her first-ever EP.

Finneas not only co-wrote the EP, "Don't Smile At Me," but he also produced it, which would soon become the twos dynamic when it comes to Billie's music. One year later and Billie would score her first album, in which Finneas co-wrote and produced as well, catapulting the brother and sister duo into the mainstream world of music.

This is quite a feat for someone who has been in the business for less than 7 years, however, his work speaks for itself and has granted him a lot of success. While many people might think that Finneas only collaborates with Billie, they'd be surprised to know he's responsible for the writing and producing of a number of other hit songs from other artists.
