90's children enjoyed watching Sabrina The Teenage Witch on ABC, as the show was sweet, funny, and totally magical. Melissa Joan Hart has a $13 million net worth and became famous after portraying teenage witch Sabrina Spellman.

Hart hosted a party for the stars in February 2020 and it was fun for fans to see photos on social media. There's so much nostalgia out there for shows like Sabrina, and with the Netflix reboot The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, new viewers have been able to discover this world of witches. It was great news for fans of the OG show, since it meant being able to hang out with this awesome character once again.

But how does Melissa Joan Hart feeling about this new generation of Sabrina? Let's take a look.

What Does She Think?

Fans really love The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, but how does the actress who played the OG Sabrina Spellman feel about the new series?

Hart said that she might not be the right age for the show. According to W Magazine, the actress said, “I don’t think it really appeals to me." She continued, "I watched a little with Netflix. We did a social media campaign where I watched some of the episodes. But I don't think it really appeals to me. My kids are a little too young for it and I'm too old for it."

According to Advanced Television, the actress appeared at Comic Con Liverpool with Jenna Leigh Green and Beth Broderick, known for their Sabrina roles as Libby and Aunt Zelda. While there, the actors talked about the Netflix show, and they mentioned the differences between the two series.

Hart said the show is "satanic" and Leigh Green said that the shows didn't have much in common. She explained, “It’s very dark. [Ours] was very wholesome and family friendly. The new one is very different. We would have never got away with that.”

Sometimes it can be tricky with a reboot, as the original stars might not be sure about watching a new version with new people. Melissa Joan Hart has been totally polite and classy about The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina and has really kind words to say about it.

According to W Magazine, she said, "I love the fact that the character lives on" and "I think it's great." She talked about the actors who have portrayed James Bond and said it's a "sisterhood" of actors who have played Sabrina Spellman.

Hart has been positive about the reboot, and she has made it clear that she doesn't love shows that she considers "scary." According to Insider, she doesn't think she's part of the "audience." She said Stranger Things is "about the only scary show I'll watch."

Playing Sabrina

Melissa Joan Hart said that fans love the fantasy aspect of Sabrina and other series. She told Entertainment Tonight that people like "wish fulfillment" as they start to see themselves in the role of the main character and think about how they would act. Hart also said that's why Harry Potter has done so well.

Hart explained why people love these types of shows: "Especially because when times are tough, people want something good to look forward to or something good to watch or something light and easy to watch. And that's what we try to give them.”

Kiernan Shipka was the perfect actress to take on Sabrina Spellman. She told Glamour Magazine UK that she could tell from a young age that she was going to be an actress and that meant that she didn't have a regular childhood. She said, "I definitely think my ‘growing up’ was in so many ways so unconventional. I didn’t go to a traditional school, I didn’t have a traditional route." Sabrina doesn't have a regular life, either, since she learns on her 16th birthday that she's actually a witch.

Shipka loves how tough and organized Sabrina is: she told Glamour UK, "The fact that Sabrina is able to maintain a relationship and go through all this witch nonsense is incredible."

When celebrating Sabrina The Teenage Witch's 20th anniversary in 2016, Hart said that not all reboots are good as they are "hard to do right." According to ABC News Go, she said, "I think sometimes it’s better to just leave it in the past unless you do it really, really great.”

While Melissa Joan Hart might not have sat down to watch The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, there are many fans who enjoyed being part of the teen witch's world once again. Both shows may be different from one another but they each have something that makes them special.
