Joseph Gordon-Levitt might have once studied to become a professional clown, but he's clearly not clowning around with his career now.

Levitt has been very busy lately. Not only has he recently starred in the new Netflix film Project Power, and 7500, he's also keeping his production company HitRecord alive and running to help future generations of filmmakers achieve their dreams. We knew we loved him for a reason.

He doesn't seem to want to slow down, which could definitely add to his already impressive net worth of $35 million. We'll have to keep a careful eye on him, as always.

Being A Versatile Actor Earned Him Most Of His Net Worth

Gordon-Levitt has been working as an actor since he was six, and ever since then, he's proved he can take on pretty much any role.

He can play the love-struck teenager in 10 Things I Hate About You, and he can voice characters like Jim Hawkins in Treasure Planet. Following his four-year break from 2000 to 2004, he proved he can play more indie, artsy, roles in films like Brick and 500 Days of Summer.

He's even proved he can star in more mainstream, action-packed films like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and Looper.

He's basically done it all. Teen dramas, television, action, comedy, rom-com, indie, and animation. What's left for him to do?

This past year he played Frank in Netflix's Project Power and Richard Schultz in The Trial of the Chicago 7, and he's set to appear in Wingmen and rumored to star in K Troop. But if we know Gordon-Levitt at all, we're sure he'll start raking up more roles once Hollywood starts churning out more projects.

During A Slow Period In His Career, He Created A Platform On HitRecord

Oddly enough, there was a period in Gordon-Levitt's career where he thought he wasn't busy enough, so he went ahead and created his own platform called HitRecord, in 2004.

He wanted a platform where he could show his creativity and be independent because around that time he felt that he wasn't being allowed to express himself and he wasn't getting the parts he wanted either.

He told IndieWire, "I wanted to be creative, and no one was letting me. Okay, I have to figure out something to do on my own."

So he and his brother formed HitRecord, which produces short films, books, and DVDs. After it became successful it changed into a full-fledged production company. According to Celebrity Net Worth, it has now produced a number of projects and has generated about $6.8 million. They have partnered with companies such as LG, Samsung, Sony, and Levi’s.

To help spur on other's creative passions, he also started a 10-episode podcast called Creative Processing with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in which he and his guests answered listener's industry-related questions. In 2019, he also gave a TED Talk about how craving attention can make you less creative.

Gordon-Levitt has also turned to directing and producing projects as well. His first film was a short called Sparks, and in 2010 he directed another short called Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny. He has also directed projects with HitRecord throughout the years, and two films he's starred in himself; Don Jon in 2013, and the upcoming Wingmen.

He was supposed to star and direct his own film adaptation of Sandman but dropped out of the project due to creative differences. He is also a producer of the Broadway show, Slava’s Snowshow, and will produce the upcoming K Troop.

In fact, Gordon-Levitt is currently looking for people to help him on certain projects and has been crowdsourcing on his social media. Over the summer he was looking for "musicians, singers, rappers, and artists of all kinds to help create a song inspired by my upcoming Netflix movie, Project Power."

Recently he's been trying to find someone who could read aloud a poem in Bahasa Malaysia "for a cool short film." He's also posted on his Twitter that he needs pictures of eyes for a project.

So if you're in need of work, or just want to put that you've worked with Levitt in some small way, head over to his social media. You'll always find a long list of weird but creative things he needs to be done for his projects. Boy, are we excited to see how all these projects turn out.

Gordon-Levitt is always down for any collaboration. So when actors like Will Smith need help on their docuseries, he's there. Smith has an upcoming docuseries called Amend: The Fight for America, which discusses what the 14th Amendment means to people. Gordon-Levitt has helped out by reading some of the responses. It is set to premiere on Netflix on February 17.

It's safe to say that Gordon-Levitt has a lot of different projects on the back burner, so there's due to be no shortage of work for him. He's always worked consistently throughout his career, and it seems like it's not going to stop. Not even creative differences can affect him, he can just go out and make a project right now if he wanted. He could even make a project within a project within a project, but that would be Inception.
