Most people recognize Katey Sagal if not by her name then by her face: the actress has been a Hollywood staple since the '70s. She's most well-known for her role on 'Married... with Children,' working with Ed O'Neill, arguably the more famous of the two at the time (and the one earning big bucks on set).

But Katey's also revamped the sitcom scene a few times — including on '8 Simple Rules' with Kaley Cuoco and the late John Ritter.

More recently, Katey joined 'The Conners,' in another nod to the past.

And really, Katey has managed to stay relevant over the past few decades, and her TV resume is crazy long. But what fans really want to know about is Katey's personal life. The actress doesn't make headlines often, though she is now on her third marriage.

So who is Katey's husband, and how did they meet?

Kurt Sutter is a writer-producer, and the two were married back in 2004. Katey has three kids, two with her ex-husband and one daughter with Kurt, born via surrogate in 2007.

Sutter, who is seven years younger than Sagal, hasn't been in the industry quite as long as his wife. However, most of his industry credits are for writing projects — including a long list of 'Sons of Anarchy' episodes. Fans will recall that Katey was also on that show, but the two were married before the show premiered.

And in 2009, in an interview with E! Online, Katey revealed just how the two met and fell in love. Unfortunately for fans, it's not an epic love story with dramatic moments or some kind of meet-cute.

Instead, Katey related, she and Kurt met through a mutual friend. He asked if she'd like to have coffee sometime, and she said yes. But the two didn't make it a date, at the time. At that point, Sagal explained, she had two young children, so she was a bit frazzled being a single mom. As she phrased it, she "kind of was out of touch" and didn't connect with Sutter until a while later.

In fact, it was a few months before Kurt called and the two finally had that coffee. As she later admitted in an interview, per CBS News, Katey actually brought her sponsor to breakfast with Kurt. Katey, who was in recovery for past substance issues at the time, "didn't trust" Kurt yet, he complained.

But by the end of that breakfast, they were inseparable, said Katey, saying "we went and kind of never left each other after that."

From there, the two also started their working relationship. While Katey was on 'Sons of Anarchy,' Kurt was writing her scenes. But that didn't mean she had a ton of creative power over her role of Gemma; Kurt "doesn't really let on" about the character's future, Katey said at the time.

And while not all the cast members from 'Sons of Anarchy' are still friends today, clearly, Katey and her hubby didn't let the storyline come between them.
