Netflix is responsible for breaking out a lot of stars in the industry. This includes Victoria Pedretti in The Haunting Of Bly Manor as well as the entire cast of their fantastic original series, Stranger Things. And, of course, we have to single out Millie Bobby Brown whose entire career is owed to the people at Netflix. Not only is she the star of a beloved series and in major blockbusters, but she also starred and produced a Netflix original film.

Perhaps Taylor Russell is on her way to doing the same?

While Lost In Space wasn't a show for everybody, it did have a built-in audience thanks to the original series from the '60s. It also had a host of talented up-and-coming actors who were showcased well and has since earned some pretty prestigious credits in the business. This includes the alluring Taylor Russell.

According to Legit, Taylor is worth somewhere around $700,000. But with her growing success, there's no doubt that she will be making some serious dollars. And, pretty soon, she will be reaching a million-dollar net worth.

Let's take a look at this up-and-comers notable career and see how she will be increasing her status within the entertainment industry...

Breaking Into The Industry

The now 26-year old Taylor Russell was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In various interviews, Taylor has said that she had a unique experience trying to become an actor in Canada. Vancouver, specifically, is a hotbed for up-and-coming actors thanks to various CW shows and Hollywood sci-fi movies coming up to shoot. While coming up the ranks, Taylor was working on projects with other Vancouver-based stars like Falling Skies Connor Jessup, Levi Meaden (Ariel Winter's ex-boyfriend), Letterkenny's Dylan Playfair, The 100's Richard Harmon, and To All The Boys I've Loved star Emilija Baranac.

In an interview with Rickey Smiley, Taylor claimed that there are many things she loves about Canada and Vancouver specifically. All of the filming taking place in the city allowed Taylor to chase her childhood dreams. As a child, she would often find herself daydreaming and talking to imaginary people.

Taylor got her first shot at the industry when she was cast in an episode of Emily Owens MD. This was followed by a role in a small independent movie called If I Had Wings.

From there, Taylor booked a number of small roles until landing a five-episode arc on Falling Skies, a sci-fi show produced by Steven Spielberg. A couple more independent and TV movies followed, along with If I Fall, which she co-starred in with Zoey Deutch and Halston Sage.

Then came her big break...

Lost In Space Launched Her Into More Significant Role

While Taylor Russell is still working her way up the ladder, Lost In Space changed everything for her. Not only did it give her a leading role on a fairly-big-budget Netflix series, but it gave her a steady job. On top of it, the show was filmed in her hometown.

Around the same time, Taylor was cast in the lead role of Escape Room, a horror film that Taylor has claimed she is most recognized for. In her interview with Rickey Smiley, she claimed this is because horror film fans are fanatical about the genre. This would explain the fact that Taylor was asked to reprise her role in Escape Room 2 which is currently in post-production.

As for Lost In Space, the show is currently making it's third and final season, according to Digital Spy. While we're sure Taylor will miss the chance to work with her castmates as well as pull in some decent Netflix money, ending the show will free her up to do other work.

The Indie Film Darling

Aside from Lost in Space and Escape Room, recent years have found Taylor being cast in a number of critically-acclaimed independent films.

In November 2019, A24 released Waves, a film about a family coming to terms with a tragic loss. Aside from Taylor, the film starred Sterling K. Brown, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Alexa Demie (Euphoria), and Lucas Hedges (with who Taylor is reportedly romantically involved with IRL).

While the movie was beloved by critics and audiences at various established film festivals such as Telluride, it also catapulted Taylor into a different part of her journey as an actor. She was awarded various recognitions for her work in the film and was subsequently cast in two more high-end indie films, Words On A Bathroom Wall and the upcoming Dr. Bird's Advice For Sad Poets. In both films, Taylor plays a teenager despite being 26.

While promoting Words On A Bathroom Wall, Taylor said that she wished she looked older than she does as she doesn't feel as young as people think she is. But Taylor is clearly smart when picking her roles. While she may be cast in roles that are meant for people younger than she is, Taylor knows strong material when she sees it. Not only that, but she picks characters that inspire her.

"I definitely gravitate towards characters [that are strong women] more," Taylor explained during the online interview with CineMovie. "Who have secrets. Who are powerful in their own individual way."

The more Taylor focuses on dynamic and powerful roles like these, the more she will likely continue her climb in the industry as well as grow her net worth.
