In May 2014, Kim Kardashian tied the knot with rapper Kanye West, but just seven years later (with the addition of four children), the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star decided to pull the plug on her marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

It’s fair to assume that with all the wild antics Kanye had displayed in recent years, such as infamously claiming that Kim wanted to “abort” North West upon finding out she was pregnant with their first child, the TV personality has had enough and no longer wants to be married to the “Stronger” hitmaker.

It’s believed that Kim and Kanye had already been separated for well over a year. The Grammy award-winning artist had been spending most of his time out in Wyoming while his estranged wife remained in Los Angeles with their four kids — North, Saint, Psalm, Chicago.

But the distance between them for long periods at a time only made things worse, with Kim realizing she was happier without ‘Ye. According to TMZ, the pair had a prenuptial agreement in place before tying the knot, but since both of their earnings have skyrocketed since 2014, on top of the $60 million joint house they bought in Hidden Hills, there are a string of assets that have to be divided — but who gets what? Here’s the lowdown…

Kim And Kanye’s Divorce

According to Forbes, Kim and Kanye are worth a combined total of $2.1 billion. Since tying the knot with the 43-year-old, the social media guru’s fortune has risen to astounding numbers thanks to the success of the family’s lengthy stint on reality television.

In October 2017, for example, the Kardashians had signed a $150 million deal with E! to extend their run with KUWTK through 2020. Kim’s share of the deal was said to have been around $8m-$9m.

But that’s nothing compared to the money Kim has been making from her cosmetics empire, KKW Beauty. The company was established in June 2017 and initially started out focusing on makeup-related products such as lip glosses, palettes, blushes, lip liners, and blush, but has since grown to offer all kinds of cosmetics, with new releases being added to the line-up every other month or so.

In June 2020, Forbes estimated that KKW Beauty was worth an incredible $1 billion — just three years after Kim’s brand went public. She cashed in on her ownership after selling 20 percent to cosmetics conglomerate Coty for a whopping $200 million.

In September 2019, Kim launched Skims, a shapewear company that had sold over three million units in a matter of weeks. According to the New York Times, the brand is valued at $1.6 billion thanks to its recent $154 million in new funding.

Kanye, on the other hand, has been just as successful with his Yeezy brand, which The Hollywood Reporter says has an estimated value between $3.2 billion to $4.7 billion, making the Chicago native net worth rise to $1.8 billion.

Together, Kim and Kanye own multiple mansions around the US, including a home in Calabasas, a Miami condo, and two ranches in Wyoming. Forbes claims the pair also have $5 million worth of artwork, close to $4 million in vehicles, and over $3 million in jewelry.

While their prenup will more than likely protect their millions, it remains unclear how Kimye plan to evenly share their multiple homes unless one of them decides to give up certain properties in return for some of the precious artwork the pair have collected over the years.

According to multiple reports, Kim will continue to live in the $60 million Hidden Hills home with her four children while Kanye remains in Wyoming, giving somewhat of an indication that the soon-to-be exes will either share the house or ‘Ye might just end up gifting the property to his estranged wife.

In March 2021, momager Kris Jenner touched on her daughter’s divorce while promoting the 20th and final series of KUWTK on Australia’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show, saying that the family's main priority in all of this remains on Kimye's four children.

"I think it's always going to be hard any time, you know, there's a lot of kids and Kim and Kanye,” she explained. “The good thing about our family is we're there for each other and we're supportive, and we love each other very, very much.

"I think we all want that for our families, just to be able to have ... the love and appreciation of one another and just (to know) that everyone's OK,” she concluded.

Kimye’s divorce is quietly moving forward through their attorneys who are working out the best exit strategy that will leave both parties satisfied.
