Way back in 2009, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen got married. The uber-famous football player and top-ranking model made a glamorous couple on every red carpet, and fans really didn't know whether the pair would last.
Fast forward more than a decade, and they seem just as happy as ever. They share two kids (plus Tom's eldest child with his ex, Bridget), many millions of dollars, and a pretty high-class lifestyle.
And while Tom's Super Bowl rings might be the blingiest thing in the couple's closet, Gisele's engagement ring wasn't half-bad either.
Tom and Gisele agree that Tom is totally the family diva, but that just means he wants his wife to have a ring that's as gorgeous as the sparkly gems he wears in commemoration of his still-illustrious football career.
When he popped the question in 2009, Tom seemingly went all-out on his leading lady's gem. The stunning ring featured a platinum setting, a large center diamond, and two tapered baguettes, says Vogue.
As gorgeous as it was, however, Gisele's engagement ring wasn't the most expensive of its day, nor was it the flashiest. While The Plunge suggests the ring was just as flashy as the proposal — Tom asked his model GF to marry him in a surprise proposal with plenty of candles and white rose petals — the ring was only about four carats.
Sure, to any average non-model, that's one massive stone. But the four-prong platinum dazzler was rumored to cost a mere $145,000, says Vogue. Tom kept mum on the price, of course, and $145K is clearly not a cheap ring by any means.
Still, other stars have far flashier and more expensive gems on their fingers; Vogue notes that Catherine Zeta-Jones' flashy ring from Michael Douglas cost at least $1 million all the way back in 1999. Matt Bellamy shelled out $200K for Kate Hudson's ring in 2011, and he didn't even get to marry her afterward! And Reese Witherspoon's giant gem from Jim Toth set him back about $450K; the ring was also a 4-carat piece.
Fans can't fault Brady for choosing a ring without a mega-sized price tag, though. He clearly made the right choice, as Gisele often rocks the sparkler.
Though fans may question whether the pair is really happily married, Tom and Gisele have been together for more than 10 years and counting. It's safe to say that neither is in the relationship for the other's cash, so the cost of the ring is really a moot point.
Besides, Tom may have another shiny token to add to his ring collection soon. Maybe it's time for Gisele to upgrade hers, too?
