Regina King is without doubt one of the most decorated actors in the world today. Among the numerous accolades she has received for her stellar career to date is an Academy award, a Golden Globe and four Primetime Emmy awards. The Oscar and the Golden Globe were for her incredible performance as Sharon Rivers in the Barry Jenkins film, If Beale Street Could Talk from 2018.

Her success rate at these major award events is stunning: Her Oscar win also represents her only ever nomination. At the Emmys, she has been nominated five times, and only once did she fail to win.

Her filmography contains renown titles, including Jerry Maguire, American Crime and most recently, the HBO hit series, Watchmen. She can also count herself as part of The Big Bang Theory family, even if her appearances on the acclaimed CBS sitcom were limited to just a handful.

Thanks to this kind of stellar work on the screen, King has managed to amass an impressive net worth of about $12 million. A good chunk of that would have come from her more illustrious roles, but how much did she make from her cameos on Big Bang?

Celebrated Bodies Of Work

King started her career as a teenager when she was cast to play Brenda Jenkins in the NBC sitcom called 227 from the late 1980s. Her first big screen role came in 1991, in the form of John Singleton's cult classic, Boyz n the Hood. She played a character called Shalika, and starred alongside names such as Angela Bassett, Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr.

For the better part of the following decade, she continued featuring on both film and television, mostly in supporting roles. She landed her next major TV gig in 2005, as the voice of both Huey and Riley Freeman in Cartoon Network's animated sitcom, The Boondocks.

In 2007, she played Sandra Palmer, an activist, and sister to Presidents Wayne and David Palmer in the Fox action series, 24. She also had a recurring role in the police procedural drama, Southland, which aired first on NBC and then on TNT for a total of five seasons between 2009 and 2013.

Regular Guest Star

In 2012, The Hollywood Reporter published the news that King - then at the height of her time on Southland - would be joining Big Bang in a supporting role. The report stated, "King will play Mrs. Davis, the head of human resources, who will have the unique pleasure of questioning Sheldon after the theoretical physicist lands in hot water following an uncomfortable conversation with his sexy assistant, Alex (Margo Harshman)."

King was indeed cast in the role of Janine Davis, head of HR at Caltech, where Sheldon Cooper, among other main characters on the show work. Mrs. Davis' first appearance was in the 12th episode of the sixth season, The Egg Salad Equivalency. She returned for the 20th episode of the same season, and would later appear in future seasons of the show.

In total, King featured in six Big Bang episodes. In doing so, she joined other illustrious names such as Octavia Spencer, James Earl Jones and LeVar Burton in being regular guest stars on the show. RELATED: 'Big Bang Theory': Guest Stars Reveal What The Cast Was Really Like

Well Paid Actors

The Big Bang Theory is famous for how well they paid their top actors. There was a significant difference in the amount of money the cast made from the first season, to what they earned in the final one.

In their first appearances on the show, the likes of Melissa Rauch - who played Bernadette Rostenkowski - Mayim Bialik (Dr. Amy Farrah) and Kunar Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali) were paid $45,000 per episode. By the end of the series run, they were earning between $450,000 and $600,000 per episode.

Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter) and Jim Parsons (Sheldon) were the high earners from the beginning, as they were taking home $60,000 per episode. In the last season, Cuoco made $900,000 per episode, Galecki $1 million while Parsons bagged a cool $1.2 million per episode.

In the limited role of a guest star, King of course would not have been earning anything close to that. An exposé on salaries in Hollywood published by Deadline reveals how established actors making guest appearances on top shows earn in the range of $8,000 to $25,000 per episode.

With any credence to those numbers, King would have earned anywhere between $48,000 to $150,000 for her six cameos in the various episodes of The Big Bang Theory. NEXT: This 'Big Bang Theory' Star Was Never Given A Salary Increase In The 84 Episodes He Appeared In
