The COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on everybody since it began in the beginning of 2020, but it's made things especially hard for the 90 Day Fiancé couples. The quarantine last year already made it difficult for any couple to see each other even if they didn't live that far apart. But for the long distance couples, it was nearly impossible to see each other during that time. The borders closed and no one was allowed in or out of countries for a long time.

And some of the borders are still closed even now, so the couples have had to figure out how to make their relationships work with all of these challenges. Here is how the pandemic has affected the 90 Day Fiancé couples and what they are doing to make it work through the pandemic.

6 Alina And Steve

Alina and Steve are a new 90 Day Fiancé couple who just made their first appearance on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. They figured out a unique way to make their relationship work through the COVID-19 pandemic. “Steven, a devout Mormon from Utah, is giving up his life in America to be with Alina, a beautiful Russian woman he met a year ago on a language app. When the Russian border closes because of the coronavirus pandemic, Steven and Alina come up with a backup plan to meet up and marry in Turkey instead,” according to TV Insider. Although they’re finally going to be together again in a new country, it seems like they have some trust issues they need to work out while they’re there.

5 Ellie And Victor

Ellie and Victor are another new couple who we got introduced to on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. The couple is handling the pandemic by moving in together, but Ellie is going to Victor’s home country so they can live together. “After falling for Victor while on a trip to South America, the lovestruck couple continued their long-distance relationship for two years. Victor lives on a small Colombian island called Providencia, and Ellie has decided it’s time to leave her successful restaurant business and city life in the U.S. for small-town, island living on their little slice of paradise,” according to TV Insider. In the last episode, a hurricane hit Victor’s country and Ellie lost communication with him, but she’s still going to make sure he’s okay.

4 Jenny And Sumit

Jenny and Sumit are a returning couple on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, whom we met on the second season of the show. The pandemic actually helped their relationship since the borders were closed and Jenny didn’t have to leave India, but that might change soon with the borders opening again. “After moving to India and back several times in the wake of extreme relationship challenges, Jenny is now a year into living in India and is losing hope over whether she will ever get to marry Sumit. Her visa has been extended due to the pandemic, but knowing that can’t last forever leads the couple to consider how else Jenny might be able to stay in the country,” according to TV Insider. Jenny obviously got really upset when she learned her visa might not get extended again, but the couple is working to find a way to keep her in India so they can stay together.

3 Evelin And Corey

Evelin and Corey are another returning couple for this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. They first appeared on the show in the first season and they’ve had a lot of problems in their relationship since then. The couple took a break for a little while, but when Corey planned to go back to America, the pandemic started and they were forced to quarantine together. “With the coronavirus lockdown in Ecuador lifted, Corey and Evelin can finally start planning their wedding. However, things between the couple are extremely rocky after Corey admitted that he almost hooked up with another woman in Peru while he and Evelin were on a break,” according to TV Insider. Although the pandemic might have saved their relationship, they obviously have a lot of problems they still need to work through.

2 Paola And Russ

Paola and Russ aren’t on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. They are one of the original 90 Day Fiancé couples. But the pandemic has affected their relationship a lot and has caused them to take a break from their marriage. Paola’s manager, Dominique Enchinton, told In Touch, “During this pandemic, it’s hit everyone very hard, especially couples who have had to stay indoors with each other 24/7. Russ has lost his job during the pandemic, so Paola was the sole breadwinner for the past year. With all of that, it’s definitely taken a toll on both of them being in each other’s faces, so they are going to be taking a break for a little bit.” The couple isn’t completely breaking up though. They’re going to try to work through their issues, but they think that they need to spend some time apart first to think things over.

1 Angela And Michael

Angela and Michael aren’t in this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way either, but they’ve appeared in the franchise multiple times and have one of the most dramatic relationships out of all the couples. The pandemic has caused even more tension between them since it’s making it harder for Michael to move to America, but somehow they’re still together. “While Angela claims it’s not over, fans thought that this explosive fight could have been the end for the 90 Day Fiancé couple. Despite their roller-coaster relationship, it appears that Angela and Michael are still together. The couple’s internet presence still appears to be intertwined as they share an Instagram page and a Cameo account,” according to Showbiz CheatSheet. Even though the pandemic is making it harder for them to be together in person, they’re still trying to work through their issues and make their relationship work.
