The photo of Dune star Timothee Chalamet breaking bread with the self-proclaimed social assassin, Larry David, absolutely rocked the internet. Fans always dig celebrity bromances. They're all about what's going on between Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt and especially Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. But these bromances make a lot more sense than Larry David and Timothee Chalamet... and that's part of the allure.

Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook all blew up with images, memes, and general comments about the pair. Of course, fans were jealous that they couldn't be at a lunch with the rising heartthrob and the iconic comedy writer. But they also remarked at how beautiful it was to see two people of very different ages having a laugh together. On top of it, it didn't take place at a glitzy Hollywood function. Still, fans are extremely curious about how these two met and what's really going on in the photos.

The Photos That Almost Broke The Internet

In mid-Septmebr 2016, the paparazzi snapped a few photos of the 74-year-old Larry David and the 25-year-old Timothee Chalamet enjoying a bite together at Sant Ambroesus restaurant in New York City. Larry appeared to be genuinely enjoying himself, contrary to the misanthropic curmudgeon he plays on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Although, around the same time, Larry was photographed at New York Fashion Week plugging his ears as models walked down the runway... So, he sometimes is exactly the type of person fans want him to be.

Either way, fans went absolutely bananas when they saw Larry sitting with the Dune superstar. Everything about the images were downright enthralling, including the peculiar choice of drinks. Both Larry and Timothee were sipping on espresso martinis which definitely doesn't seem as though to be the drink that either of them would gravitate to. But this just made fans even more enthralled.

While they were hoping for some sort of buddy movie or legitimate bromance to be brewing, most fans started wondering how the heck these two met in the first place.Related: Here's How Larry David Spends His $400 Million Net Worth

The Mystery Of How Larry And Timothee Met And What Their Relationship Actually Is

The truth is, we're not exactly sure how Timothee and Larry became close enough to go out and have lunch together in the middle of a pandemic. But that seems to be part of why fans are so enamored with this seemingly mismatched pair. There are, however, some clues as to why these two have been spotted having a nosh together.

One of the clues is who was sitting with the two Jewish actors. While she wasn't included in many of the photographs that were tending online, Larry and Timothee were sitting across from two individuals, and one of them was Larry's daughter.

No, not his daughter who dated Pete Davidson and may or may not have had a thing with John Mayer, Larry's other daughter. Many fans of the Curb Your Enthusiasm don't know that Larry in fact has two daughters. His youngest, Romy, is rarely seen and doesn't have the Instagram presence that her charming and beautiful sister does.

Given that Romy David and Timothee Chalamet are around the same age and hang out in similar realms within high society, it's not impossible to believe that they're friends and that this is how Larry and Timothee met. And no, Timothee is not romantically linked to Romy as the other person at the table is rumored to be Romy's boyfriend, Josiah Adams, according to Page Six. Although to be fair, this isn't the biggest stretch in the world as Josiah does look a lot like Timothee... Oh, well, maybe in another life...

But the other theory is that Larry was the one who introduced Romy and Timothee. This is because there's a possibility that Timothee is one of the celebrities about to guest star on the upcoming season of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Even though some of the publications talking about this Larry/Timothee lunch, suggested that the two could have been in the middle of shooting a scene while at the restaurant, this is highly unlikely. Larry has made a point of not including his daughters in his semi-autobiographical satire and doesn't even have daughters portrayed on the show. So, there's just no way that Romy was part of the scene. Additionally, the upcoming season has already wrapped and is ready for the air in October. If Timothee was invited onto Curb Your Enthusiasm, it would have been months ago. And it's very possible that the two became friends and decided to meet up for lunch.

While we don't know the true origin of their relationship, we absolutely adore the inter-generational friendship that appears to be brewing between them. This is far from the first intergenerational friendship in Hollywood and it's unlikely to be the last. But, right now, it's the one we all want to know more about.
