Lindsay Lohan probably had one of the worst years of her life in 2010 when she was arrested and found herself facing a judge on multiple occasions for violating her probation, flunking a drug test (which landed her in jail for a second time) along with multiple rehab stints to overcome her battle with substance abuse.

2011 wasn’t any better for the Mean Girls star, who had pretty much been blackballed by Hollywood — and rightfully so. Bad behavior and showing up late to work on endless instances will do that to you, but could 2012 have been another bad year for LiLo?

The answer: Yes.

Lindsay Lohan’s Fight With Her Mother, Dina Lohan

In October 2012, police were called to Dina’s Long Island home in New York, with sources telling E! News that the mother of three had gotten into a physical altercation with her daughter after things escalated during a heated conversation.

While it was never revealed what the argument was about, it was bad enough that Lindsay and her mom ended up fighting over it, leading the actress to tell her dad, Michael Lohan, to call the police.

"I did call the police at Lindsay's request and Lindsay even asked that I record the conversation because she was being held against her will by the limo driver at Dina's instruction," Michael gushed in a statement following the incident.

"There is a lot more to it than the police report says and it's going to come out!”

Michael appeared to lift the lid on what may have led to the physical altercation, mentioning how Dina had been lying to LiLo before claiming that she had also taken a huge sum of money from her daughter.

“Lindsay even says to me in the conversation that Dina does the same thing to Lindsay as she does to me using the kids as pawns and lying to get money from both of us!

"She just took another $40,000 from Lindsay and she even says it! Dina and her lies have got to be stopped! I won't have this done to my kids or be lied to and about any more!”

No arrests were made, and to this day fans are still trying to work out what exactly led Dina to get physical with her daughter.

But whatever the case may be, the two have since patched up their differences and squashed their feud, which we know since Lindsay went on to star in her OWN docu-series in March 2014 — and it just so happened that her mom was featured in some of the episodes.

Aside from being featured on her daughter’s show, more recently, the 58-year-old has made it no secret that she’s still very close to the “Rumors” singer.

In fact, following her engagement to Jesse Nadler — a man she has never met before — Dina says Lindsay was one of the first people to celebrate the occasion before going on to gush on how happy she was to finally see her mother happy.

It should be noted that Dina and Jesse had supposedly shared a six-year on-off virtual relationship and in all of those years, they never found the need to meet in person — not even for their engagement over the summer.

Still, Lindsay was overjoyed to hear that her mom was set to walk down the aisle again after finding happiness with her longtime partner.

"Lindsay is over the moon," Dina told Entertainment Tonight about her engagement.

"Lindsay just said, 'Mommy, I'm so happy for you. I've been waiting for you to find this forever.' I've been alone for a really long time intentionally because I felt I just hadn't met him yet my whole life.”

It’s unclear when the couple plan on tying the knot, but no official date has been arranged as of yet, presumably due to the coronavirus pandemic, but fans remain skeptical on whether these two will actually end up getting married or not.

After all, for a man she had never met in person, it seemed rather strange to agree to a proposal with their only interactions taking place over a webcam and FaceTime.

Still, despite their infamous fight in 2012, it seems apparent that Dina and Lindsay are still on good terms, and that the altercation that occurred in New York was more or less a one-off situation that quickly resolved itself soon after it happened.

Dina has been supporting Lindsay with her business ventures after the actress decided to relocate to Dubai, but she still travels back to the East Coast in the U.S. to visit her family as often as she can.
