Being a child star is a tough gig for any person thrust into the spotlight at such a young age. There are a ton of expectations from these young performers, and while they do get opportunities that are available to very few people, they still have to take part in an unbelievable amount of work early on. Stars is like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Justin Bieber can attest to this.
When looking through the history of film, there is arguably no bigger child star than Macaulay Culkin, who rose to prominence in the late 80s and 90s. Culkin would eventually grow up and largely stay away from acting, but if recent trends are any indication, he could be getting back in the game.

He Will Be Appearing In The 'Home Alone' Reboot
When taking a look at upcoming projects that Macaulay Culkin is working on, the upcoming Home Alone reboot that will be debuting on Disney+ is the thing that immediately stands out. After all, the original Home Alone was the film that turned Macaulay Culkin from child actor to legitimate Hollywood star.
Released back in 1990, Home Alone was more than just another Christmas movie coming into theaters. It was a movie that had an incredible amount of comedic talent as well as the talented Macaulay Culkin. Weave some hilarious writing, memorable scenes, and a John Williams score together, and you have yourself a recipe for one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made.
Home Alone was nothing short of a monumental success when it was released, and even a sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York was a sizable hit for Culkin. Hollywood is known to tap into the well and remake and reboot stories that have worked before, so it shouldn’t be too surprising to see Disney leaning on a new Home Alone flick.
At this time, it appears as though Macaulay Culkin will be playing a very minor role, maybe even relegated to a cameo. Of course, fans of the original would like to see him in a more prominent role in the film, but having him around will still be a nice nod to the original.
Fortunately, not all of Culkin’s upcoming projects are set around his past works.
He Will Be In 'American Horror Story'
One of the bigger shows on television in recent years has been American Horror Story, and the cool thing about the show is that utilizes different performers and different themes in each season. So, one can only imagine the hype that was generated when it was announced that Macaulay Culkin will be appearing in the upcoming season of American Horror Story.
Culkin may not be known for his performances in darker films, but the truth is that he had a stellar performance in The Good Son back when he was still a child star. For those that have not seen the movie, Culkin was paired up with fellow child star Elijah Wood and was a much darker character than we saw in Home Alone.
At this point, it is not entirely known how large of a role Culkin is going to have in the upcoming season of American Horror Story, but the hope is that he will be around for more than just a cameo. Maybe this is something that can ultimately launch a new era for the former child star.
Now that he has projects coming up, fans are getting excited. In reality, they should have taken note that the star has been on the up and up recently.
He Has Been Busier Lately
While he may have had a lot of success as a child star, Macaulay Culkin would eventually become very selective about the roles that he would take on as an adult performer. He even passed on the opportunity to star on a little show called The Big Bang Theory. However, Culkin has seemingly hopped back in the saddle in recent years.
In 2019 alone, Culkin appeared in multiple projects. On the small screen, he appeared in an episode of the show Dollface, while on the big screen, he wound up taking a role in the movie Changeland.
Those roles came on the heels of a hiatus from acting once again. Culkin did appear in some projects around 2015, but was content with waiting for interesting projects to arise. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see him taking on more roles in recent years with some big things lined up.
Macaulay Culkin looks ready to get back in the game, and his upcoming projects could be the perfect way to kick things off.
