There's a new reality show premiering on Netflix this summer that has gotten people talking, and it's called Sexy Beasts. While there are no weddings taking place in a juicy season 1 finale, it does remind people of another popular reality show on the streaming service: Love Is Blind. The Premise
Everyone wants to know about starring on Love Is Blind as the premise has never been done before. When people think about dating, they definitely think of it as a face-to-face experience, and even when two people are set up by friends, family members, or maybe co-workers, they go on a date where they can see each other.
On Love Is Blind, contestants sit in private areas called "pods" and feel that they can tell what the other person's personality is like just from chatting and hearing their voice.
The premise of Sexy Beasts makes it sound like this is definitely the new Love Is Blind.
Contestants wear prosthetics and animal-style makeup and, according to CNN.com, personality is the name of the game here, too. Each contestant will have the chance to meet three people, and they won't know what anyone really looks like. They can choose one of the three and then they'll be able to see what they look like.
According to Variety, the show is narrated by Rob Delaney, so that sets it apart from Love Is Blind, which had two co-hosts, Vanessa and Nick Lachey, but no voice-over narration.

When Love Is Blind began streaming at the start of 2020, people had some questions about it. Could you really love someone if you had never seen their face or even gotten a hint of what they look like? What about getting engaged before going on a "real" or actual date? An expert shared their thoughts on Sexy Beasts with Slate.com: Joe Strike, who wrote a book about the subculture, said, "I think it’s very exploitative of the furry community. It’s going to get a lot of attention, a lot of notoriety. I was already reading the comments under the trailer, and there are still a lot of furry haters out there, and they let their feelings be known in those comments."
Joe Strike also said, "One of the reasons I wrote Furry Nation is to say, you know, 'Hey, furry pride.' We’re part of the scene here. We’re no more or less weird than any other kind of fan group. Our thing happens to be for anthropomorphic animals, cartoon animals, or storybook fantasy animals. There is a natural human tendency toward anthropomorphism.
According to CNN, Sexy Beasts is based on a U.K. show that did really well, and there will be two seasons. The first season is going to have six episodes and comes out on Netflix on July 21st, 2021.
No matter how people feel about the premise for Sexy Beasts, it does have a similar concept to Love Is Blind, as it's trying to look beyond physical appearance and think about personality and what people are really like on the inside.
