Even though Umbrella Academy is doing really well in its second season, and trending on Netflix, one of its stars has been receiving some negative feedback on the internet.

Among the hit show's diverse cast, is sixteen-year-old, Aidan Gallagher, who has equally as many fans as he does internet trolls since the beginning of the show. If you look on Gallagher's Instagram, you'll see that he comments on some of his fan's praises. But sometimes you'll be able to catch him posting about the backlash.

But what is it exactly that Gallagher has done to get backlash, and why is there a controversy surrounding him? More importantly, why do people seem to hate him and laugh about him on Tik Tok?

Gallagher Has Allegedly Said Some Sketchy Things On Social Media

Gallagher, who plays Number 5 on The Umbrella Academy, has allegedly been bullying fans on social media and making sketchy comments about a lot of sensitive topics, and fans on Twitter keep talking about it. While Gallagher has tried to defend himself, refusing the claims are true, people are still skeptical.

He has allegedly commented on things like depression in a chat, with one fan screenshot showing he said, "Honestly if you're depressed please don't come in here bringing the entire group down and running the risk of [sinking] you deeper. I don't want that. Mods if anyone brings up depression stop them."

Defending himself, Gallagher replied, "And now on Twitter SOMEONE took a screen shot and is saying I'm depressed or against depression."

But some fans think that his responses to being called out just made the situation worse because he said that some of the people who were talking about depression were just seeking attention.

After that, he continued to talk about it saying, "...depressed and it brought the whole chat down like toxic so I said THIS IS NOT the place to discuss depression because that needs professional help not a mob room mentality and to not come here to discuss it because it's too important a top and frankly is contagious."

Gallagher then started to talk about how people were taking screenshots of what he was saying and said it "betrayed his trust."

He's also allegedly claimed he had cancer. Responding to a fan that asked why his hair was weird, Gallagher said, "It's a wig. I'm bald from chemo. Everyone knows that." He's also reportedly tweeted, "if you look on my insta there's photos of me bald cause I'm not ashamed of cancer."

A fan on YouTube even compiled all of the things Gallagher has allegedly said on social media, including the things he's said about being hateful, examples of how he's harassed girls online, and called fans in chats a bunch of 13-year-old girls.

Gallagher's Defense Might Discredit Him Even More

Gallagher's way of combating all of the haters online hasn't really got him anywhere. His response to all the criticism has made people online hate him even more. He does not like that people take screenshots and if they do he claims that they are fake and made by people being paid to cause hate and who are "working on the evil side."

He reportedly posted a comment saying that all the hate surrounding him comes from the trillion-dollar companies "that illegally pollute and destroy our planet" who employ PR companies and social media experts to pose as teens to discredit him.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Aiden wrote, "I'm hearing a lot of rumors lately about me saying things I never said. People are 'quoting' me with things I never said. Saying I'm against women or mental health — both things I have spent years standing up for. I don't know but every day the rumors get wilder. People have made fake screenshots of things and claim they are of me saying incredibly wild things."

Meanwhile, there is a battle online between Gallagher's dedicated fans, who believe Galagher's word that the screenshots were made up, and the people who think that Gallagher's is trying to cover himself up and continues to put his foot in his mouth.

There's even a Reddit board asking why Gallagher's hated and the comments are very conflicting, and a Go Fund Me page called "We Want to Make Fun of Aidan Gallagher To His Face," which only has a $100 goal (we don't condone the hate).

People On Tik Tok Make Fun Of Him And The Situation As Well

The drama over the last year, spanning from Twitter and Instagram, has now become a popular topic on Tik Tok. The fact that Gallagher has begun a music career has given people on the platform reason to make fun of him as well.

Gallagher's song She has become a frequently used song on Tik Tok and fans have used it to make fun of the actor and his singing. They make fun of the way he pronounces 'love' and have started the Tik Tok joke "Lauv by Lauv" and "Loaf by Loaf."

People even spam his social media by endlessly writing "Lauv by Lauv" and "Loaf by Loaf" until he either blocks them or asks them to stop. Some accounts have also messaged him saying they were a fan, and when he thanks them they respond with, 'sike!'

In another one of these instances, he's (again allegedly) said, "I can see right through your act- DM me one more time and my next song will be about your missing body." But the funny thing is that Gallagher has started to use the word 'lauv.'

Despite all of this drama, it is still unclear who to believe; the fans or Gallagher, but what we do know is that there is a lot of Gallagher-related content on social media and endless memes and jokes. You can't always believe everything you read online, but fans still love him.
