It's no secret that Zac Efron is and always will be a total zaddy. Fans loved him back in his High School Musical days, as a blonde, and as a rugged mountain man.

But in a recent appearance on Facebook's Earth Day! The Musical fans noticed that Zac was seemingly debuting a new look. During his chat with Bill Nye The Science Guy, many people pointed out that Zac seemed to have a new sculpted appearance.

Facing Public Scrutiny for His Looks

As soon as the clip started to circulate, the memes flooded Twitter with people comparing Zac's new appearance to handsome Squidward, The Weeknd in the Save Your Tears music video, and human Shrek. Others went as far as saying that Zac ruined his face with plastic surgery and fillers.

But exaggerated memes aside, something is visibly different about his face, specifically his jawline and chin. Many fans came to Zac's defense, saying that he is still stunning no matter what and that they feel bad for him because people can't accept that he's not going to look 21 for the rest of his life.

All of this got Zac trending on Twitter, with hundreds of thousands of tweets rolling in. But there may actually be some potential explanations for Zac's appearance.

Plastic Surgery Rumors

Daily Mail reported that Zac broke his jaw in 2013, and his appearance could have something to do with his previous injuries.

And while it's totally possible Zac had a follow-up surgery on his jaw after his 2013 injury, Dr. Anthony Youn, plastic surgeon and famous TikToker, had another explanation for Zac's face. He said, "I actually think he's had dental surgery, not plastic surgery. That's why he's swollen in these areas. If you've had your wisdom teeth taken out, did you look like this?"

Reconciling With His Body

Over the years, Zac himself has been honest about not caring as much about his appearance anymore as he once did.

Last year, he appeared on Hot Ones and revealed that after Baywatch, he was no longer focused on being in tip-top shape. He said, "I realized that like when I was done with that movie, I don't ever want to be in that good of shape again."

Zac revealed how hard it was to have to be "perfect" for that movie and how he no longer prioritized looks in that way. The actor also explained that he had to drop down to only 5% body fat, and stuck to a very strict diet while filming.

So based on all this information, it seems like Zac may have had some procedure done, whether it be dental or otherwise. The star himself hasn't spoken out on any of this, but fans agree that if he did, in fact, want to get plastic surgery, he can do what he wants because it's his face.

Tired Of Unrealistic Beauty Standards

Zac Efron thinks the shape he was in for Baywatch was "stupid," and he never wants to go through that again. The High School Musical star was just on the YouTube talk show Hot Ones where he told the host Sean Evans while trying to eat increasingly spicy hot wings that he didn't ever want to be in that good of shape because it was too hard to maintain that physique. He said, "You're working with almost no wiggle room, right. You've got things like water under your skin that you're worrying about, making your six-pack into a four-pack. S–t like that it's just not… it's just stupid. It's just not real."

However, Zac also admitted that he's glad that he got in the shape that he did for Baywatch as it made the movie look really good. The actor even said that he would get Baywatch shape again if the right project demanded it. As for now, the 33-year-old actor says he's good and advises fans to take care of their heart and brain.

Mental health is vital, and Zac should never be sacrificing that for looking a certain way. This isn't the first time the actor has opened up about his body.

When Zac met his Madame Tussauds wax figure, he told Ellen that it was "weird whoever did this. I'm very impressed and scared." He admitted while they did a good job on the figure, it's a little bigger than him. He recognized that his wax figure's abs modeled after his Baywatch body was unrealistic for guys as he said, "I don't want to glamorize this."

Zac has been battling with alcohol addiction. He has tried various rules to fit into every possible Hollywood standard and stay relevant, looking like a snack no matter his hair color. However, lately, he has been taking more control over his career and becoming a great role model for those who also struggle with their body image.
