During the 2000s, a number of comedy movies hit the big screen and offered a shift from what fans got in the 90s. Movies like The Hangover and Pineapple Express are perfect examples of 2000s comedies that were unique and helped influence a number of comedy projects that have since followed.

Released back in 2004, Wedding Crashers was a hilarious movie that saw Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn flex their comedic talent and chemistry on the big screen. The movie featured some incredible performers, including Isla Fisher, who was nothing short of amazing in the movie. The actress was a perfect fit for the role, and to make sure that she got the gig, the actress gave a wild audition that helped seal the deal.

Let's take a look at Isla Fisher's success in Hollywood and how she was able to snag the role of Gloria in Wedding Crashers.

Isla Fisher Is A Successful Actress

Having been in the world of acting since the 90s, virtually everyone is familiar with Isla Fisher and the work that she has been doing on the big and small screen. After spending several years and over 300 episodes on the Australian soap opera Home and Away, Fisher would make her way to Hollywood looking to make it big on the global stage.

2002's Scooby-Doo was a nice break for Fisher early on, as was 2004's I Heart Huckabees. Over time, the actress would appear in other major projects like Hot Rod, Definitely, Maybe, Horton Hears a Who!, Rango, Now You See Me, The Great Gatsby, and more.

Fisher has continued to do television work, but she has been primarily focused on film work since breaking out during the 2000s.

As we mentioned already, Scooby-Doo was a nice way to get the ball rolling, but just two years later, Fisher would get the chance to appear in a comedy movie that made millions at the box office and helped her catch on with mainstream audiences.

She Had A Memorable Role In 'Wedding Crashers'

For many, their first impression of Isla Fisher as an actress came thanks to her time in the hit comedy, Wedding Crashers. Fisher was brilliant as Gloria in the film, and she stole just about every scene that she took part in.

At the box office, Wedding Crashers pulled down over $280 million, making it a massive hit for all involved. It really opened the door for Fisher to start appearing in other large projects down the line.

Fisher's character is as wild as it gets on screen, and despite being open for a lot of the movie, Fisher did have some things negotiated into her contract that she would not do. More specifically, she made sure to get a body double for a provocative scene.

"I negotiated that from the beginning, trying to analyze why. I find pornographic violence, just gratuitous and unnecessary than nudity, because there's nothing more peaceful and beautiful. After all, we're all born naked, and I totally kind of hate the puritanical approach to the whole nudity thing, but then when it comes to me. I'm like double standards, no way am I doing anything like THAT, and it wasn't because of my relationship or because of my parents. It was a personal choice that I just made," Fisher said in an interview.

She Gave A Wild Audition

So, what was Isla Fisher's audition like for Wedding Crashers? Well, that depends on who you ask.

In an interview, Fisher said, "I went in, auditioned, did three scenes, then went back again and did the same three scenes."

However, another person who was in the room shed some light on just what her audition looked like.

Casting director, Lisa Beach, said, "Isla Fisher was the funniest audition ever. She came into the room and did the scene where she puts the make on [Vaughn’s character] in the bathroom and suddenly just goes out of her mind. And Isla, dare I say, spread her legs, flopped me down on my back and was just crawling all over me."

Needless to say, this wild audition must have caught the casting team off guard, but clearly, they loved what Fisher brought to the table. Eventually, she was deemed the right person for the role, and thanks to the success of the film, millions of people got to see what she could do on screen.
